Spotlight Anya

Well I cant believe I'm still on holiday and havent done much crafting!  Have been working on  DT stuff in the background but today I'm trying to have a crafting day as tomorrow I start sanding in the hall, stairs and landing, we took up the old carpet yesterday and took it to the dump so now we are having to go quietly up the stairs so as not to upset the neighbours!  Anyway on to my card...

For this card I have used my Spotlight Anya for the first time and coloured her using copics, not entirely happy with the hair but getting there!  The blue paper is some super shiny textured stuff that I bought a few years ago when I was doing a circle journal on magiacal & Mythical beasts and I thought it worked well for dragon skin!  It is in several different colours and depending on how the light hits it each sheet has several different colours running thru it, the patterned paper is BG Sugared and the faux stitched piece and yellow border pieces are from a bundle that came with a mini scrapbook, the flowers and beads are all from my stash.

This card is for the following challenges:
One Stitch At A Time #28 ~ Girlie or colour theme - I managed both!  The picture for the colour theme is what inspired me to use the shiny paper!

Scrap That Idea - Challenge Forum Challenge #3 inanimate objects (no people or animals!)

Here is my digi lo for the 3rd challenge over at the Scrap That Idea Forum.  I have used a freebie kit by Vicki (aka A Work In Progress) called Funky Retro and my photo is of a full moon which I took at the beach when I went with Adrian while he was fishing back at the end of June this year.  Took loads of pics and played around with my camera settings got some really unusual pics too that are quiet abstract if you dont know what you are looking at!  Plan to scrap them in the future too. I made this lo while I was travelling back home on the train yesterday, really made the journey fly by especially as the train was packed.  Ria was happily watching a film on my ipod so went quickly for her too!  Had a great week with my mum and dad ~ Thanks Mum & Dad, love ya!  One of the highlights of the week was a trip to the New London Theatre to see 'War Horse' an amazing piece of theatre if you get the chance go see it you will not be disappointed but I will tell more about it in another post.

There are some outstanding lo's being produced by a very talented bunch of ladies, if you want to check them out visit the gallery over at Scrap That Idea and if you feel like having a go check out the details over at the Scrap That Idea Forum.

Crafty Sentiments Digital Designs Challenge 8 ~ 2 brads and a ribbon 2nd card

This is another card that I made to fit the challenge this week over at Crafty Sentiments Digi Design Blog.  The papers are I think BG Sugared, the image is the cute Toby in a pot available at the Crafty Sentiments Store, I coloured it with copics and added 2 little pink brads to the flower centre and a butterfly punched from the same papers.  I have used pink organza ribbon to make a flower and I used a punched flower pot to put it in.  So why not pop over to the Crafty Sentiments Digi Design blog and check out our challenge.  'Go on You know You want to!'

I would also like to enter this card into the following challenges:

The papers are elements are part of a digi kit called Bad to the Bone by A Work In Progress (aka Vicki) apart from the flowers which come from a digi kit called Black Tie by Staceys Scraps both of these very talented ladies have a store over at Scrap That Idea.  The brads I managed to make myself just butting cutting circles out of purple paper then adding bevels and shadows.  Carly has been coloured digitally and as yet I'm not sure how to add more depth and shading to my digi colouring (big learning curve needed there! lol)
Well you've seen what I have made, hope you like it, dont forget to pop over to see the amazing creations by the rest of the DT and then back to Crafty Sentiments and check out the challenge and play along with us.  'Go on You know You want to'

Dotties World - Your Favourite Charmed One

Well this week over at Dotties World Gunn thought she would set us an easy challenge - to use our favourite Charmed Download.  Thats not easy, I love soooo many of these images but I finally did manage to whittle it down and I guess this image of Holly from the World Tour collection really is one of my all time favourites so instead of making a card using her I have made a digi layout using her and a digi kit addon from Raspberry Road Designs.  As a side note I made this today while I was travelling from Dorset to London on the train at the start of my holiday - it made the journey go pretty quickly.  I am planning on printing this out when I get home and hanging it in my craft room for inspiration.

I would also like to put this in for the following challenges:
Sketch and Stash challenge #42 these are all images and papers that I have had for quite a while.

Scrap That Idea - Challenge Forum Challenge #2 Animals

This time the challenge over at the Scrap That Idea forum is to scrap animals (not the human ones!) and we have to use one of Vickis kits (thats not hard I have quite a collection of them now! and I love 'em! lol)  So for this challenge I have scrapped a picture of one of Ria's bearded dragons, this one is Indie looking very beautiful and the kit I have used is called Simplicity, which was kinda fitting as I wanted to keep the whole layout quite simple.

MTTC #102 ~ Farm Fever

Now when I first saw the challenge over at My Time To Craft I knew exactly which image I wanted to use and it is a digi stamp that is part of a freebie kit by Raspberry Road called the Farmhouse Collection and I have had it in my collection of digi kits for quite sometime and I have used the image before (long time ago!) but I knew it was perfect for this challenge.  I have coloured him using copics, my papers are MME Wild Asparagus, flowers are Prima E-line, the little heart charm I have had for a couple of years too and the twine has been in my stash again for quite sometime but I felt it was a good time to use it as none of my ribbon was really working! lol as for the little celebrate wording at the bottom I have no idea where I got that but its been in with my fancy buttons for ages.  I sanded the edges of the papers to give them a bit more of a rustic/vintage feel.
I would also like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Whoopsie Daisy August Challenge ~ Blue & Green

Crafty Sentiments Digital Designs Challenge 6 ~ Distressing

Gosh can you believe its Thursday again already!  The week has flown by but that does of course mean its challenge time over at Crafty Sentiments Digi Design Blog and this week the theme is 'Distressing' now you really need to pop over to the rest of the DT's blogs and check out all the loveliness they have created to inspire you.  For my card I have used the lovely Pat in Summer and I decided to try a technique that was new to me (although I'm sure there are plenty of you out there who already know all about this one!)  I have printed and coloured Pat using copics and a touch of sakura stardust and then I have applied the 'cracked glass' technique.  I was drawn to this technique because of having to put it in the freezer!  I really couldnt imagine putting any of my craft stuff in the freezer but hey ho I'll try most things once and this is one I'll definately do again, I really like how this works and it is so simple too, another reason for it being a technique for me!lol  For the rest of my card I have use MME Bloom & Grow papers which I have roughed the edges of then inked, I have used Coredinations CS which I have sanded, the inner circle is Coredination Whitewash CS which I first embossed then sanded to get the inner core of blue to show through and I finished off with a layered Bloom & Grow flower with a brad from my stash.
And here is an image to show the cracked glass effect better.  I rubbed some ink into the finished image to highlight the cracks better.  The only thing I did notice while I was doing all the heat embossing is that my clear powder has actually picked up quite a bit of other colours and some glitter along the way! lol!

So what are you waiting for? Pop on over to Crafty Sentiments Digi Design Blog and check out our challenge, there is a prize for the winner of the challenge too.  Come on over and play along with us 'Go on You know You want to!'

I am also entering this card into the following challenges:
Crafty Ann's Challenge #20 ~ Lazy, hazy days of summer
One Stop Craft Challenge #92 ~Summer fun
Bee Crafty #35 ~ All about the Image - I concentrated on the image by using the cracked glass technique

Dotties World ~ Frame It

This week over at Dotties World we have been asked to include a frame and some dots along with our Charmed Download.  After looking thru all my downloads I settled for WaterLily Pixie and coloured her with copics and added some glitter and stardust pens, my frame is made from chipboard covered with some green paper andthen cut using a sizzix scallop frame die, I added some flowers which I also glittered (not done that before!lol).  The papers I have used are Doodlebug Inc Fun In the Sun (thats where my dots are!) and were a freebie with ScrapBook Magazine at least 2 years ago!  When I first thought about this card I was struggling to think how I was going to do it but actually it came together quite quickly once I'd chosen my papers.  Pop over and check out the DT work, its great AND there is a prize up for grabs too so go and join in!
I am also entering this card into the following challenges:
Crafty Sentiments #30 ~ use chipboard mine is the frame.

TGF ~ Jade

Well tonight I sat here and put together a card for the challenge over at Anya Ink which this time is for Black & White + 1 colour and for this I opted for green.  I have used the image of Jade from the 1st Roll Call set and after seeing an image that Ria had coloured of Jade using b&w and adding a pink stripe to her hair which worked so well I decided to try something similar and once I had chosen my papers (coredinations cs and DCWV glitter stack I decided I needed more than just the hair stripe in green and this card is my end result.  There is also a TGF sentiment stamped up in the top right corner but it doesnt show up too well in the pic and it says 'say what?'
I am also entering this into:
Sketch and Stash challenge #41 ~ the stamps are my newest item.

Crafty Sentiments Digital Designs Challenge 5 ~ Tag It

Ok folks its Thursday which means its time for Challenge 5 over at Crafty Sentiments Digi Designs Blog and the challenge this week is Tag It (make a tag) So I opted for a tag book.  I used mountboard for the covers then cut some paper for the inside, covered the tags with DCWV glitter stack then added Fairy Pat coloured with copics and some stardust who is available to purchase at Crafty Sentiments Store, imatted her on some pink card and both are cut using my nesties.  Tied the book with some pink organza ribbon after binding it with my trusty Bind It All and then added pink metallic peeloff letter for Li'l Ideas so that I can keep it close by for jotting down ideas and then keeping them in a safe place.

digi layout for challenge at Scrap That Idea forum

Vicki (A Work In Progress) decided to continue the challenge forum that started during the World Cup so we had to state our intention to take part and were sent links to a freebie mini kit and we can score points for doing a lo and other things too.  Unfortunately I havent been able to pop on and view everyones work properly yet so that is my task for tomorrow morning!  And I know I am going to see some amazing work and hopefully get more inspiration for the next challenge.  The kit is called Petticoat Lane and we had to use at least 3 of the papers and 6 of the elements which I managed and I used the horse riding pictures from yesterdays post.  TFL

I am also entering this into the challenge over at By The Cute and Girly as their theme for August is Animal Antics.

Ria Riding

Well I have finally got round to scanning in the pics that were taken when Ria went horse riding for project week, the photos cost us £10 for the 2! but I am glad we bought them as we couldnt make it see her in action so this was the next best thing.  She had a fab week got 4 rosettes, was the person who improved the most over the week and she attained her Progressive Riding Test One from British Horse Society so not bad for a complete novice!  She was the only one in the group who hadnt ridden before!  Her horse was called Todd and quiet lazy when in the school but loved to jump so she was lucky there.  She only fell off once and by all accounts she did that very gracefully! lol  The pics show her showjumping and doing cross-country not bad for 1 week.

Golden Wedding Anniversary card

Here is the card that I made for the couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.  I still had some of the cream glitter card left over from the book cover so thought I would use that and combined that with some gold glitter card and gold peeloffs.  I kept the card simple and I hope elegant.  We had a lovely time at their party but didnt stay too late as I was on call and I had the early shift this morning too!  Right now to do some more crafting.  catch you all later.  TFL x

Dotties World - Going to the movies

Great theme this week at Dotties World ~ Going To The Movies.  I couldnt resist using Hitchcocks The Birds as my inspiration.  Paper is a digi from somewhere I have forgotten I have had it so long, embossed the yellow card and found some mosaic tiles in an old tub from Ria's stuff from about 8 years ago!  Sorry cant give more details as I'm off to get ready to go out but had to get this entered before it was too late.  TFL

a gift

I have made this book as a gift for our neighbours who are celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary, it is actually today but they are having a big party tomorrow to which we have been invited so I have made this book so that people can leave them messages and they will then have a keepsake of the occasion.  They dont know about the book and I have given it to their daughter so that it can be at the party ready for guests when they arrive.  They have specified no presents so I thought this would be nicer than nothing and its something everyone can be involved in.  I kept the whole decoration quite simple, I have used cream glittered card for the cover and the tags which are actually all cut from mountboard and then covered, the tags have been inked with gold ink, the flowers are from my stash (from a recent blog candy) the leaves were punched and then I added the names and corner peeloffs and some gold and cream organza ribbon.

Inside I have typed a front page which I then mounted on to more of the glitter card and then finished off by adding some more corner peeloffs.  I must say I am pleased with the end result and I took my time as I really didnt want to make mistakes with this one!  It doesnt look like it took me ages but I spent forever working out colours and then trying to work out the best placement of the tags was a real nightmare! and as for the flowers I tried sooooo many different combinations of numbers and leaves you wouldnt believe! lol  Well thanks for stopping by and looking.   It was nice to use my bind it all as havent used it in a while!, mind you I think Ria has got plans for making books as gifts for friends for christmas so could be getting busy with it soon! lol xx

Crafty Sentiments Digital Designs Challenge 4

Ok its Thursday and that means its challenge time over at Crafty Sentiments Digi Design Blog and this week the challenge is to add 2 (or 2 types) of embellishments we are lucky enough to be being sponsored by Di's Digi Downloads too.  The DT have produced some fabulous work so dont forget to visit them all and see just how busy they have been.

For my card I have used the delightful Pat as a Mermaid available to purchase at Crafty Sentiments Store and I have coloured her using copics and tried my hand at the feathering technique of colouring.  I based my colours around the disney character or Ariel the little mermaid.  My papers are Me & My Big Ideas, flowers are Prima E-line the charm is actually an old necklace with a broken chain adn the peeloff lettering is a metallic green/blue colour so fitted perfectly with the card, I added a little bit of stickles Iced lace to the flower centre too.  Ok thats my card now pop over to Crafty Sentiments Digi Design Blog and check out our challenge and hopefully take part too, 'Go on You know You want to!'

Dotties World ~ That Summer Feeling with a Prize

Ok I have missed the last couple of Dotties World challenges due to work commitments so I knew I had to take part in this weeks although my card doesnt look particularly summery, summer is definately a good season to be fishing! (thats my excuse anyway) I have made an easel card (only me 2nd attempt) and I wanted to use a circle so make it a bit more different (for me anyway!) as this was also part of the challenge. I have used the image of George fishing from the Sporty George collection, George always manages to make me smile. I have coloured him with copics and sakura then added some diamond glaze to his hat and waders for extra effect, paper is papermania from my scraps drawer and I've added a button, peeloff lettering and a border cut using Tonic Studios punch. Now as I mentioned in the title there is a prize this week for taking part but to find out more you need to pop over to Dotties World and get the low down.

Normal service should be resumed shortly just been a bit busy getting some DT pieces sorted, really doesnt pay me to go away for a few days always so much to catch up on after! Thanks for stopping by. x

Scrap That Idea - World Cup Promo Final Challenge

Ok here is my layout for the Final Challenge over at Scrap That Idea and this time Vicki made us a beuatiful kit called So Pretty and the challenge was to scrap ourselves! Gulp, I hardly ever do this unless its a specific challenge so I had to look long and hard for a pic of me that I was willing to share! lol Well I found one from 2004 and here is my layout. Kept it simple (bit like me really!lol) Thanks for stopping by back later with that news but got to do some very boring ironing for a while!

PaperTake Weekly - Sketch #44

This card is for the sketch challenge this week over at Papertake Weekly, my papers are digi by Raspberry Road Designs and are the freebie add on to the Raspberry Tea kit, I added buttons from my stash and a bit of scrap card. The image is TGF Hope & Grace Classy coloured with copics and stardust but you cant really see the bling of the stardust. The little button embossed border is a cuttlebug border folder. The sentiment is a freebie stamp and when I stamped it I didnt get my colour even so I rescued it by going over it with a stardust pen (wish I'd thought of doing that before! lol) TFL I'll be back tomorrow with some exciting news! Bye for now. xx

PaperTake Weekly - In Stitches & Crafty Sentiments #25

When I was checking out Crafty Sentiments this morning for the new challenge they have a new free digi image available and it is just so cute that I had to make a card using Flopsy who you can grab here.

Papertake Weekly ~ In Stitches ~ my paper is where my stitches can be found, printed I'm afraid, was going to get the machine out til I realised I had this paper! Papers are Doodlebug Design Inc Sunny Doodles, Patch of Posies and Bloomin Stripes and they came free with ScrapBook Magazine a couple of years ago now I think!

Crafty Sentiments #25 A Sketch ~ Used the Flopsy image and couldnt decide what colour he should be so opted for a white bunny enjoying raspberry and chocolate icecream, the sentiment is from TGF Roll Call collection and the flower is from my stash.

Crafty Sentiments #24 Birthday Theme & Spoon Full Of Sugar #110 Animal Crackers

Well I made this card this morning for 2 challenges and it was a bit of challenge for me too as I dont very often do shaped cards but I had some freebies this month with PaperCraft Inspirations so thought I'd try and put them to good use!

Crafty Sentiments #24 Birthday Themed ~ well its certainly birthday themed and although you dont have to at the moment I have used a Crafty Sentiments image which was a freebie digi called Sammy Snail (this is the 3rd time I've used this image and each time I have differed its use slightly which just goes to show how versatile digi images can be) the shell is cut from some coredinations cs using my nesties then a peeloff sentiment added, other papers are from my scraps drawer.

Spoon Full Of Sugar #110 Animal Crackers ~ my animal is the cute Sammy Snail from Crafty Sentiments.

TFL hopefully be back later after we've been to town.

Dotties World - Paper Piecing

Ok so over at Dotties World this week Adele set the challenge to do paper piecing, this is a technique I learnt from the uber talented Louise right here at Dotties World in my early days of blogging, I had heard of it but didnt know what it was but ever since my first attempt back then with Dottie herself I've never looked back and it is a technique I use every now and again and I like the results, so this time I decided to use Holly in England from the World Tour collection, now normally I think of Holly as more sort of autumny/wintery so I decided to give her an english rose coat! I actually rather like the effect wasnt sure how it would look when I started! The paper is papermania signature range Blueberry Hill and I also used paper from the collection to paper piece her hat, boots and umbrella then I added glitter to her scarf/top and coloured the rest with copics. I sponged some ink around the edge of the image as the white was too stark then I added some card candy, flowers and a handbag charm, the sentiment is from TGF Spotlight set. Ria has already claimed the card for a friend she walks to school with who is moving at the end of this school year and apparently she is after a coat just like this one! TFL
