Crafty Sentiments ~ Mothers Day

Well did you all enjoy the Crafty Sentiments Blog Hop last week and the gorgeous FREE Amy image?  I know I did and this week I decided to use the freebie image from last week, she is just soo cute  I have coloured her with my trusty copics and just a touch of sakura stardust.  My background paper is from the Joanna Sheen Cardmakers Year cds as I thought this would work well with my colour chooices and the flowers that I have Amy holding onto behind her back and as the challenge is all about Mothers Day I have used a peeloff Mother and then added a sentiment circle from the Crafty Sentiments store.  There are also now Mothers Day sentiments available so go check them out too.  So jump on in and join with our challenge over at Crafty Sentiments challenge blog this week we are being sponsored by The Craft Pad Designs

Mad for Markers ~ Colour Challenge

Boy oh Boy did I find the new challenge this month over at Mad For Markers a challenge.  The challenge is to use colours from the RV, YR and BG families which I didnt think would pose too much of a problem but I was very wrong!  The hardest thing I found with the colours I actually have inthose ranges was getting my skin tone right!  I must have wasted at least 4 images in  the process before I got to one I liked! lol still it was all good practice! and I got there in the end!  I have used another of the images from TGF which I got a Sillyu Monkey Crafts closing down sale, this time I have used Hope & Grace Sing, my papers are from the M&MBI paper pad which I have had for a while now but I love and I have hidden a message under the image and after I had sorted out the flap I couldnt get it to stay closed enough then remembered some tiny little magnets I bought ages ago but I cant remeber where from and they have worked perfectly.  The leaves are punched from scraps of cs and the flowers are from my stash.  I am pleased with this card but it certainly was a challenge to make and I so wanted ot get it right as its my Mothers Day card, now I'm just wondering if my mum will be tempted to look or if she will be good and not be tempted, only time will tell! lol

The colours I ended up using are: Skin - YR 61, guitar - YR 23, bikini - BG 96, hair - YR 31 & 23 flower - YR 16 & 68

Anyone For Anya ~ A Birthday Card

I've been putting off making my card this week for the challenge over at Anyone for Anya as I was waiting for a parcel to arrive.  Silly Monkey Crafts is closing down and they are having a half price sale so I just had to check out their TGF stamps and nab myself a couple, so I waited patiently in the hope that they would arrive in time and thankfully they arrived yesterday!  Today I have used Hope & Grace ~ Peace (she is adorable) and coloured her with copics and some sakura stardust, matted her onto some holograpohic mirricard and in turn put that onto a piece of DCWV glitter stack, the flowers are prima tiny tots and the sliver flower charm we picked up on the market today on a jewellery stall and they were selling bags of  odd charms for £1 each so we got 3 and then Ria got some beads for jewellery making too (easily 10 charms to a bag) organza ribbon and sentiment from my stash.

I would also like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Sentimental Sundays #47 ~ Let's get sentimental

I always used to struggle with cards that were based around the sentiment which is what Sentimental Sundays have challenged us to this week, but since finding Sentimental Sundays I have been collecting some wonderful sentiments and was lucky enough to win one of their challenges a while back and seeing as I have a partner who fishes I could resist getting the set 'Great Day to Fish' and this card comes from that collection.  The pp is from the K-Ology Addison pad to which I have added coredinations cs some of which I embossed with a forgotten texture plate from fiskars called 'scales', the organza ribbon is from my stash and then I added some waves cut from the cs using a Quickcutz die.

I would also like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Ok so on to my project and I decided not to make a card this week but instead I have used a Cranberry sauce jar (left over from christmas!) and turned it into storage for some of my buttons, my blue buttons to be precise! lol  So I kept with the blue theme and used Amy sitting and coloured her with blues, I wasnt sure initally how Amy would look all in blue but I actually like the effect, I think I will be decorating more jars with monochromatic Amys.  The lace that she is sitting on is actually some s/a paper lace from Lakeland plastics that I coloured to match then I wrapped some ribbon round the lid and used my Nesties and Nellies topped off with some buttons cut from a sizzix thin cut die.

So you've seen what I've been up to, now its time to check out the other members of the DT and your next stop on the hop is

Gosh I really dont know where time is going, the challenge this week over at OSAAT is 'For the Boys' but it is also time to make another card for their Christmas Club (CC) but unfortunately I missed the February CC I think most of Feb passed me by in a blur! lol  Anyway I'm still going to try and do a CC card each month from now on in.  This time I have used an image from Pollycraft Designs called Maurice and the Christmas socks, I have coloured him using copics and a touch of sakura stardust too and then I diamond glazed his glasses but it doesnt really show  in the pic.  My papers are Bo Bunny A Gift of Love, the flower is a Prima tiny tot, the holly at the bottom is a wooden button that I coloured with copics and stardust pens and the sentiment charm came from the cheapy shop in town (6 charms for £1).

Mad for Markers ~ Male card using brown

I havent popped over to Mad for Markers for a while and when I did thought I'd give the challange a go as I knew which papers I wanted to use straight away, the new DCWV naturals that I picked up recently!  So I chose this image of Mikey which is available from Charmed Cards & Crafts, it took me a while and some practising to get the colours and shading to how I liked them and this is the end result.  I used a papermania embossing folder for the sentiments, some little wooden buttons and teh gem stones I coloured with my copics to get them to fit with the colour theme.  The copics I used for this card are E 00, 21, 43, 47 & 49.

Digital Tuesday # 102 ~ It a magical world

Hello, now when I saw the challenge this week over at Digital Tuesday I just knew what image I HAD to use, it is an image designed by a good blogging buddy who I am sure you have all heard off ... Sammi of Stuff By Sammi she makes the most awesome cards but what some of you might not know is that she did also design her own digi stamps and sell them under the name of Crafty Muse and I was very lucky to be part of her DT and this little guy that I have used for my card is from those days and this has always been a favourite of mine and it was great to bring him out for an airing!  I have coloured him using my copics and stardust glitter pens, the background paper is textured, holographic shiny stuff that I bought years ago when making a fantasy circle journal as I thought it was a bit like I imagine dragon skin to be and I love all the colours it shines out.  The sentiment quote is from Sentimental Sundays and then I finished the card off with some little wooden buttons that I coloured with the stardust glitter pen.

A lazy Sunday afternoon ~ NOT! lol

Well I had planned a nice lazy Sunday afternoon with plenty of time for crafting ~ Nope!  Popped to local craft centre only to find the one shop I wanted to go in was shut!  I only wanted a new ink pad, the rest of the afternoon ended up being spent ordering new fishing gear on line for DOH and helping Ria with her tonne of homework, everytime I sat down to craft something else needed doing!  But I did eventually manage to finish a card!

I have used Maria from TGF, coloured with copics and then added some glitter to the ruffle round her dress and the flowers in her hair.  Background paper is Country Companions and is from the cd rom that came free with this months Papercraft Inspirations, sentiment circle is from the new releases over at Crafty Sentiments and then I cut corners using an xcut die added some gems, the other shapes are a mix of Nesties and Nellies.

Pear Tree Designs # 39 Sketch with a twist

The challenge for this week over at Pear Tree Designs is a sketch with a twist and the twist is include gems, I loved the sketch but when I set too I found it harder than I first envisaged but I got there!  Papers are Papermania, ribbon has been in my stash for ages as have the buttons, the image is the gorgeous Taski available at Crafty Sentiments I have coloured her with copics and then used sakura stardust pens for her belt, wings and bow but it doesnt really show in the pic but when I used the flash it got a bit glary.  Used papermania build a brad kits and stamped a swirl then went over it with stardust pen for a bit more glitz and then finally added the pearls which I hope count as gems.

OSAAT # 52 ~ Use a Charm

Just managing to squeeze this card in for the challenge this week over at OSAAT which is to use a charm, (I hope the adapted old earring will count as my charm!)  This card came about because I had covered the card blank with the paper from Papermania Blueberry Hill to use for another card and then changed my mind! so the base was already then I picked up the DoCrafts Creativity magazine and it had an A6 die cut and paper pack freebie of 'Pampered Pets by Andrea Jayne and the blues and pinks matched up with the Blueberry Hill paper so it had to be done.  The funny thing is, is that I normally just keep the freebies of papers to one side and dont end up using them for absolutely ages!  So it was a novelty for me to be using them so quickly lol.  I had to colour the little ribbon roses with copics as they were white and needed some colour IRL they are not as orange looking as they are in the picture!  The little white flowers were a birthday gift in a bead pack for Ria when she was about 6 (she is now 14!) first time I've used them too!  I havent added a sentiment yet as not sure what or who I will be using the card for.

New images from Crafty Sentiments

Crafty Sentiments have some cute new images and papers which will be in the store shortly and also there are some great 'Spring' and 'Baby' sentiments which are in store now! I have used Sleeping baby bear and I digitally paper pieced the blanket and coloured the rest of the image with copics, The background paper is Crafty Sentiments as is the sentiment circle, you really should go check out the store.  The base of my hanging greeting is a wooden heart that someone sent me several years ago and I never got round to using but as soon as I saw these new images I knew exactly what I wanted to make.  The shapes are a combination of Nesties and Nellies and the flowers have been made from a selection of punches and pick out the colour of the spots on the paper.

Crafty Sentiments ~ Birthdays

Ok the challenge this week over at Crafty Sentiments is BIRTHDAYS, so a nice easy one for you all.   I have used the gorgeous Patches stamp with his balloons available at the Crafty Sentiments Store.  I have paper pieced patches and the balloons and decided to keep the colours fairly neutral and a tad masculine although I think this will be suitable for anyone of any age.  I did add some shading to Patches using my trusty copics!  The bottom of the image has been cut using a Nellie's Multi frame's die which I bought whilst on holiday last week, the  papers are also new I have used DCWV Natural Stack with foil.  I just fell in love with this stack when I saw it so you are either going to see lots of it or not so much as I just want to stroke it! lol!!  I added the build a brad using an off cut of the card and the sentiment ticket is from Crafty Sentiments store and I coloured it with copics after printing it off.   I hope you can join us this week and we have a great sponsor too 'Hope Jacare'  'Go on You know You Want to!'
