Creative Inspirations #84 colour challenge

When I was checking out the challenges around this week this one over at Creative Inspirations to use Brown, Sage & Cream caught my eye as its not colours I tend to use very much together and I really wanted to give it a try so here is my card.  My main cs is actually cream and is shiny (didnt know they were shiny when I bought them! lol) the other pieces of brown cs are from my scraps drawers, I cut them with a wavy edge using my rotary purple cows trimmer that I got at Creative Stitches (first time I've used it!), the green gingham organza ribbon I have had in my box for ages and the little flowers are also from Creative Stitches.  The sentiment is a freebie from Sentimental Sundays.  This card is different for me (no image) but I like how it turned out and I have some more wonderful sentiments from Sentimental Sundays too! lol

A glittery creation

When I was at Creative Stitches I treated myself to glitter!  Now previously I didnt really use glitter very much but always liked the look of it so thought I would take the plunge and got a whole load (never could do things by half me! lol)  I have been using and enjoying it.  I also got some preprinted acetate sheets with various images on and I have used one for this card.  It is a butterfly and I have mounted it between the cardstock and some blue glittery card, Took me a while to get it lined up properly so that the aperture was thru both bits of cs.  Then I used my xcut border cutting system with xcut and Tonic Studio punches to give the scalloped edges and the utterflies.  The whole card really is quite sparkly but that is difficult to show in a photo but I hope you get the idea.

This card is for the following challenges:

Crafty Sentiments # 41 ~ card for a male

Did you enjoy the Crafty Sentiments Blog Hop last week. I know we all did and 2 people were lucky winners.  So now its Thursday again and challenge time.  This week we are looking for cards for the men in our lives and the DT have made some wonderful cards so be sure to check them all out.  For mine I have used Mike, one of the new Christmas releases (available in the Crafty Sentiments Design Store), I've coloured him with copics and added a gem to the parcel he is holding on to.  The papers are from a digi kit called Summertime Blues by A Work In Progress and I have inked all the pieces and also torn around the image.  I finished off by adding some smaller gems and a peel off sentiment.  I so hope you will join us this week in our challenge, 'Go on You know You Want to!' check out all the details over at the Crafty Sentiments Blog along with the details of what prize is up for grabs this week.

Anyone For Anya ~ Halloween

Now I like playing along at Anyone for Anya whenever I get the chance but felt a bit stumped this week as the challenge is Halloween and I dont have any TGF Halloween stamps or even the Creepy crew ones but not one to be put off by a challenge I put my thinking cap on and dived into PSE 5 and did a bit of playing around with my digi stamps and actually combined stamps from 2 of my collections.  The first image is Charlotte  who is TGF and then I used the pumpkin part of Dottie from the Charmed Cards & Crafts downloads Halloween collection.  I wasnt sure when I started out if this was going to work but I think it has.  Coloured the completed image with copics and decided to be a bit daring and give Charlotte green hair!.  The papers are from a digi kit called Halloween Hoax by Raspberry Road Designs, flowers are from my stash, leaves are punched and the brads I coloured with copics as I didnt have any orange ones.

I would also like to enter this card into the following challenges:

OSAAT ~ any celebration

I really like the images over at Stitchy Bear Stamps and have been lucky enough to have won some (great when money is tight! lol)  I adore Butterfly Love and really wanted to use her again but wanted to try and do something a bit different so in PSE 5 I had a bit of a play around and ended up removing the wings and a few other bits and here she is.  You can still recognise her as Butterfly Love and I really hope you dont mind what I did Stitchy.  This is something I really love about digi stamps they are so versatile.  Anyway I coloured her with copics in festive red & green.  The background is a piece of coredinations whitewash cs which I embossed with a new folder by 'Bringing Crafts-Too you' which I got recently in Exeter.  Aftr embossing I lightly sanded the cs to get some of the colour to show thru and the sentiments is cuts from the same cs but reversed to give the colour using a sizzix die.  I'm actually very pleased with how this turned out and can see some similar cards to this on the horizon.

Yes another one!

Thats another Christmas card ticked off my list!  For this card I have kept it simple and relied on the embossing and glitter to do the talking.  The fabulous Snowman image is from Crafty Sentiments Design and is a digi image and I have actually removed a few bits for this card.  I have added colour using my copics and stardust glitter pens and then finished off by covering the snowman in crystal glamour dust, unfortunately it doesnt show very well in the picture but it is sat here on my desk sparkling away!  The snow falling in the background is actually irridescent mica pigment.  I have used swiss dots embossing folder from cuttlebug and snowflake texture plate from fiskars - think I'd be lost with out my big shot! the snowflake eyelets were a recent purchase.

Christmas card again

Yep another Christmas card tonight.  I got the idea for this card quickly but the embellishments took me forever to decide on!  Papers and gold card are all from my scraps, ribbon is some I got at Exeter 4 bobbins with 6ft on each for £1 got 3 different packs! the gems have been in my stash for ages.  The image, stage background and the sentiment are all from the Bumper Christmas Collection available from Charmed Cards & Crafts and feature the awesome Dottie & George.  I have used the precoloured versions.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Christmas cards are starting to take priority - sorry mum!

Yep Christmas card making has started in earnest but I might try and fit a few other types of card in, especially for you mum!lol  This one uses one of the new stamps from Crafty Sentiments Designs and is called Winter Amy adn she is a delight to colour in.  I used copics then went over the pink with glue and crystal glamour dust.  The papers are MME I think they are called Winter Wonderland (they are last years) and they are glittered.  I got the sewing machine out this time too!  I only use it for cards and not nearly often enough as I really like the effect.  I also used my corner rounder and my photo corner punches.  The little tree embellishments are made ffrom some red card punched in a circle, then I've stuck some little tree punch outs on them then dipped them in UTEE (technique still needs a bit of practice) finished off with a peeloff sentiment.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

A ghostly apparition!

I dont usually do much in the way of Halloween cards but there are quite a few challenges out there all about halloween and I just downloaded a great freebie sentiment from Charmed Cards & Crafts so I couldn't resist making this quick card.  I used a Charmed Digi Download from the Halloween collection and I opted for a pre coloured George as a ghost.  The images in that collection are wonderful.  So I added George to my card along with the sentiment which I printed on to vellum and then mounted them onto some black card which I embossed with my new Tim Holtz folder of a brick wall, and there you have a quick halloween card.

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

I'm sure there are more challenges out there but I know some only like you to enter 5 or 6 maximum so I'll leave it there and maybe get another halloween card made for the others!lol

An Annie Card

Well I haven't used this stamp in a long while and when I was looking thru my stamps trying to decide which one to use for my next card this was the one I chose.  Its from Charmed Cards & Crafts (and yes I have the set! lol) they are all adorable and lovely to colour, here I have used copics.  The paper is from a freebie digi kit by Raspberry Road Designs and its from a kit called New Beginings, ribbon is from my stash as is the fabric flower but it doesnt really show in the picture I have dipped the flower in clear UTEE (using my new melting pot!) so it gives the flower a glass like look.  Ria and I did a few 'glass' flowers today, the other ones are paper ones but we definately plan to do more. I think Ria is planning on buying some cheap big flowers and making in them into hair accessories!  The sentiment for the card is a freebie from Sentimental Sundays.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Anyone For Anya ~ Anything but a card

Well I have had a very busy week this week at work and now I'm on leave so started off my leave by sitting down to get on with some crafting!  Bliss.  Decided the first thing I would do is make this little door hanger for one of Ria's friends (actually its the younger sister of friends) and I've started on making the Christmas gifts so this is one off the list!  Hope to get a few more gifts made this week too!  Anyway Anyone For Anya wanted Anything but a Card so this fit perfectly.  The image is Nahla from TGF Roll Call set 1 coloured with copics, the papers are freebie ones from a scrapbook magazine from at least 2 years ago and I'm sorry dont know whose make they are, flowers, button and gem butterflies are all from my stash.

Dotties World - Anything Goes

Well how could I resist a challenge over at Dotties World?! lol  Now the challenge is 'anything goes' and that also means it doesnt have to be a Charmed Digi Image but then it is Dotties World so I just had to use a Charmed image didnt I?!  Well I opted for this wonderful christmas image of Dottie & George with the mistletoe, its from the Bumper Christmas Collection and this time I used a precoloured image as it fitted with my paper which is from the new digi paper collection Chritsmas Delights by Crafty Sentiments Designs, the snowflake brads and eyelets were recent purchases at Exeter, the blue snowflakes are a quickcutz die.

Crafty Sentiments Blog Hop

Whoo hoo its Thursday and that means its Crafty Sentiments challenge day and not only that but this week its our Blog Hop too!  I hope you are sitting comfortably with a cuppa as this is quite a long post! And the reason for our blog hop ...  well there are 4 fantastic new stamp releases in the Crafty Sentiments Design store today ready for all your Christmas stamping and fabulous new paper packs, a gingham set and an awesome set of Christmas papers!  You certainly wont be disappointed and the DT have made some fabulous crafty pieces to share with you this week.

Now the blog actually starts and finishes at the challenge blog so if you havent got to me from CLAUDINE'S blog then you need to go to the challenge blog and start from the begining, you wont be disappointed.  All you need to do is pop by all the blogs, leave some love at each stop then pop back to the challenge blog to let us know you've been all the way round.  On Sunday Random Generator will pick 2 lucky winners who will each win a new release stamp, (they are wonderful and great to colour)

Here is a peek at what the papers look like.

Dont they look good.  Well I have used a couple of the Christmas Delights papers on my projects this week.  No this week we have asked for 'Anything but a Card' now I love making cards but also enjoy thinking outside the box occasionally and doing something a little different and it looks the rest of the DT enjoy it too!

My first project uses Amy with a Card and I have coloured her with copics and added glitter for that festive bling.  The papers are both from the Christmas Delights pack.  I used a plastic cup that I have had for years!  When I bought it Ria was still very young (She is now 14! lol) and it had crayons and some pictures to colour and I thought it would be something lovely for her to do and give as a gift at some point but it just sat and sat on different shelves and in cupboards until this challenge and I thought it rally was time I used it! The 'For You has been cut on my xyron personal cutting system and I have added the brads for more dimension.

My second project uses Winter Amy Sitting and I decided to use one of the many old cds I have lying around that are no good anymore to make a wall plaque to use as Christmas decorations.  She is coloured using copics and I added some clear sakura stardust to the cuffs of her mittens, the paper is again from the Christmas Delights pack.  The sentiment is a sizzix thin cuts die.  I actually think I am going to make a set of these using all the stamps.

Ok so now you have seen what I have been up to with these fabulous new stamps and papers its time to pop over and visit Tammylee and see what she has been up too.

And dont forget to join in with our challenge too.  'Go on You know You Want to!'

Another card!

Ok I must be on a roll tonight as I have just completed another card and it only took me about an hour (miracle for me! lol)  I have used the gorgeous Butterfly Love by Stitchy Stamps and given her a bit of a festive makeover.  Coloured with copics, using the feathering technique on her dress (needs more practice!), sparkle added using a deep red sakura stardust and then added crystal glamour dust to her wings and the glue is still wet! lol, the paper I think is papermania which I have had for quite sometime the green is a scrap from the drawer the organza ribbon is from my stash and the little gem came off an old fancy belt that I found in a charity shop!

Scrap That Idea - Challenge Forum Challenge #6 Outdoor and use at least 8 of the 9 elements

Wow! only just made it this time for challenge 6 over at the Scrap That Idea Forum.  We had a freebie kit called peekaboo and had to use at least 8 of the 9 elements and the photo had to be something or someone outdoors.  Now we are not sure exactly what this plant is and the 'fruit' is about 5" long so is quite big and rounded, oh its not in our garden either so its not something we planted.

Crafty Sentiments # 39 All White except the image

Welcome to Thursday everyone and Crafty Sentiments new challenge.  This week the theme is 'All White except the image'.  Now initally I struggled with this one as its not something I do very often and wasnt sure if I could carry it off, but hey gave it a go and isnt that the whole point of challenges?! lol  So I chose to use the adorable stamp of Lulu which is available at the Crafty Sentiments Store and I coloured her using my copics then added glitter to all her trim which really does sparkle in the light but unfortunately the photo doesnt really show it, then I embossed the image and its background cs with swiss dots folder to hopefully give the impression of falling snow (saw it done last year and thought it was such a good idea now I've done it myself not so sure!lol) this is then matted onto another piece of cs this time embossed with winter words and finally the card blank itself has been embossed with snowflakes using a fiskars texture plate.  I then added some white ribbon to the edge of the card and a bow (I finally like making bows now I know the bunny ears method!) my final embellishments are my leaves, flower and button.  Now its all finished I'm actually quite pleased with the result and will definately do this type of card again.

A treat for me!

Ok while I was in Exeter at the Creative Stitches I just happend to stop by the 'Pinflair' stall and was totally taken by their bags, I had originally stopped to pick up some material to use on some christmas cards, which I did, but also picked up enough bits to make 2 of these bags, 1 for me and 1 as a gift and I'm pleased with the way it turned out that I am looking to get hold of some more of the bags and make a few more gifts.  Anyway here is the finished bag, may embellish the next one a bit more but everything I tried with this just wasnt working but then I think the animals are enough!  Hope you like it.

Anyone For Anya ~ Recipy 1, 2, 3

Right its a bit stormy here tonight and I've lost my internet connection once already so hopefully I can stay connected long enough to post this card for this weeks challenge over at Anyone For Anya which is a recipe to use 1, 2 and 3 of something so I went with 1 image which is Summer from the spotlight collection coloured with copics and a tiny bit of sakura stardust, 2 embellishments which are the flowers and the paperlace and 3 different papers.  The flowers are made from a punch set I got in Exeter that punches the flowers and then you put them in another punch type thing and it embosses and curves them for more depth, to the centres I have added some glitter glue.  The Good Luck sentiment is from a magazine freebie.

A Sympathy Card

This is one of the difficult cards to make, a sympathy card, never quite sure what is best so for this one I have kept it clean and simple and let the embossing folder take centre stage.  The cs is coredinations and then I just added teh little gold sentiment.  I really like this folder and dont use it enough, it looks nice embossed or debossed, I went for embossed this time even though I spent about 5 mins turning it over and over trying to decide which effect I liked best, this side won today! just mounted it onto a glossy cream card blank.

OSAAT ~ Spooky Halloween

How could I not play along with the spooky halloween challenge over at One Stitch At A Time after receiving my fabulous freebie image for guessing in the Saturday game.  I received this lovely image called Alexandria from Stitchy Stamps.  I wanted to try somethng new (well new for me anyway I know there are loads of you out there that do this and beautifully too) so anyway I printed the image onto some computer acetate and then got out my glue with fine tip and glitters that I bought in Exeter and I went glitter mad!  I usually only use a sprinkling of glitter but have decided to give glitter a real go and this is my end result.  There are a few things I'd do slightly different next time but on the whole I'm quite pleased with my first attempt which is good as last night I was convinced it was going in the bin!  I ave mounted her into black card with the aperture cut away using a Go Create die and I have also used the same die to cut a piece of white for the inside of the card.  The small images around the outside are Daisy & Dandelion stamps stamped in versamark and then mica pigment added (Ria helped with this bit as she thought it was such a cool technique.  And there you have it my spooky halloween card.

Its really difficult to take a good pic due to the acetate and all the glitter but I hope you get a reasonable idea of how sparkly it looks.

YIPPEE! Its Thursday again and that means a new challenge over at Crafty Sentiments and this week it is 'Fall Colours'  So I used this cute digi image of Toby in a Bag which is available over at the Crafty Sentiments Store which I coloured with copics and a little sakura stardust.  The papers are MME Bloom & Grow and some coredinations cs.  I replaced the digi flower head with one from my stash and added an orange brad and then added some cute little leaves which were sent to me ages ago and now I only have 2 of them left! The organza ribbon is from my stash.

Ria is 14 today

Well the start of a new week sees my daughter Ria, turn 14, so hard to believe that 14 years ago we had a tiny bundle who only weighed 4lb 12oz, she had arrived 2 months early! and now 14 years on and she is growing into a lovely young lady (who is also a typical teenager! lol)  Anyway this card is for her but it hasnt turned out quite as well as I had hoped and envisioned and she still may end up with a 'heres one I made earlier' card that she has already seen as she checks over each of my cards as I make them!  My biggest critic/fan.  I have used an image from Digi Doodle Shop which is part of my winnings from Totally Papercrafts, I have coloured it with copics and generous amounts of sakura stardust, I then cut it out and mounted it onto a card and cut away excess to make a shaped easel card but I had to leave more on the back for stability.  I have also had to use a cocktail stick to add strength to the upright.  I think if I was to make another one I would do things a little differently! but hey ho here it is in all its glory! lol

Really liked the look of the sketch this week over at Papertake Weekly so went ahead and made a card!  and why not!lol  I have used TGF Paul image from the first spotlight collection, coloured with copics and a little stardust.  The background paper is papermania from the For Him pad the brown cs has been embossed using my new Tim Holtz Alterations folder from Sizzix this one is tree bark (got it at Exeter!) then I lightly sanded it for more effect.  The ribbon is from my stash, I've actually used 2 pieces even though in the pic it looks like its threaded thru the cs.  Sentiment is also TGF.

Ruby Wedding Card

This morning my MIL phoned me to ask if I had shown her a Ruby wedding card the other day as she was sure I had but I hadnt anyway she has been pretty ill the past couple of days and had been planning on making a card for some friends but as she had been so ill she asked if I could rustle something up, so I did!  They are not a couple who really 'do' cutie cards but they love their garden and flowers so with this in mind this is what I came up with.  Plain white cs border punch system which I then backed wtih some deep red cs, which I also used for the outer scalloped circle, then white cs for the inner circle which I embossed with a papermania folder, the flowers and wire and bead decoration were all bits that I bought at Exeter recently and finished it off with some peeloff sentiments, am pleased with the finished result and MIL is really pleased with it.

Anyone For Anya ~ sketch

I've been dying to use this new stamp of Flirty Anya since I won it on the Spoon Full Of Sugar challenge a few weeks ago so I thought I would put her to good use for this weeks challenge over at Anyone For Anya which is a sketch.  I have coloured her using copics and a tiny bit of stardust, I have then matted her on 2 oval nesties cut cs which I have embossed with a new folder with stars on it, used another for the peeloff sentiment, snowflakes are cut from glitter card using a quickcutz die then I have added a rose and daisy with leaves which have been dusted with glamour dust for additional sparkle.  The cute background paper is part of a christmas set of digi papers which are available at the Crafty Sentiments Store.
