Sentimental Sundays #55 ~ Handmade flowers

Ok so I am a bit behind the times but when I saw that the challenge over at Sentimental Sundays this week was handmade flowers I knew it was time I had a go at making those wonderful zip flowers.  I have seen them about for a while and really like the look they give and the fact that depending on the zip will also depend on the look you get.  So I made my first zip flower not as good as others I have seen but I had a go and will definately try some more, (MIL has given me a few old zips to play with! lol) Anyway here is my card and when I started planning it I had not intended for it to be monochrome but thats just the way it ended up.  The sentiment is from this weeks freebie over at Sentimental Sundays and I gave it a denim look in photoshop before printing it out, the stamped leaves are a SeeDs stamp thats never been inked before! finished off with some fibre and a charm from my stash.

I would also like to enter this into the following challenges:

Anyone for Anya? ~ Colour inspiration

Wow I thought my last post was cutting it fine!  This card is for the colour inspiration challenge over at Anyone for Anya?  So this is what I came up with.  Flirty Anya coloured with copics to match the very old rose patterned paper (and I mean old!) IRL the colours do match much better than the photo shows.  The green is vellum and then some peachy cs which I also used for my sentiment and flower.

I would also like to enter this into the following challenges:
Stamp, Scrap and Doodle Saturdays ~ Old supplies
Sketch Saturday #155
Crafts and Me #34 ~ Punches (used a punch for the strips across the middle)

Paper Sundaes ~ Magical & Mythical

Here I am cutting it fine for this challenge over at Paper Sundaes where they wanted to see Magical & Mythical, now I knew what image I wanted to use straight away and I had an idea of how I wanted the card to look but not sure I really got there!  The image and the background scene are both from the Once Upon A Time collection from Charmed Cards & Crafts (and I used the pre coloured ones! well I did say I was cutting it fine! lol), my base card is covered with some textured holographic paper that always reminds me of dragon skin.  When I did the background for the actual dragon I changed the opacity of the background first so that the dragon would stand out more and added some drop shadow too.  The gold border is actually some very thin metalic stuff which I embossed and finally added a sentiment from my stash.

Release day is here! and a new challenge too.

Apologies for the lateness of my post but blogger has been out of action as I am sure most of you are aware!

Ok so the wonderful new rubber stamps are officially available at the Crafty Sentiments Store which has had a revamp so be sure to check it out.  So did you enjoy all the wonderful previews from the DT over the past few days?  Gorgeous werent they?  We certainly enjoyed making them, and now its time for a challenge and this week the challenge over at the Crafty Sentiments Challenge Blog and this week we'd like to see buttons and our sponsor this week is JLJ Designs.

So for my card I decided to use Tuti Fruiti Bunny and I combined this image with the image of the fence also from the Crafty Sentiments Store by doing some masking, images are coloured with copics and this time I used some tiny buttons for the apples.  The apple paper is from a digi kit called Scarecrow Joe from Raspberry Road Designs, I used the Ellison Designs Weave No1 texture plate to add some interest to the green cs, the sentiment is a stamps from TGF and I also added some twine.

So come on over to Crafty Sentiments and show us your buttons, 'Go on You know You want to!'

Only 1 more day to go!

Well here we are at preview day 3, which means that you can grab these wonderful stamps for yourself tomorrow morning from 8am over at the Crafty Sentiments Store.

Todays image is Strawberry Delight and as soon as I saw this I knew which paper I wanted to use.  YThis strawberry paper is from a pack of scraps from K&Co which my friend gave me several years ago when I first started scrapping and card making so its been in my drawers for quite some time! the red paper is papermania again from when I first started and didnt know all about the wonderful paper companies that are out there!  Anyway back to the card, the cute image is coloured using copics then I added some flowers, buttons (the bees are buttons with the shanks removed) and wire are all from my stash and the sentiment is from a digi kit called Summer Berries by Staceys Scraps.

Well you've seen what I have to offer for today so now go and check out these fabulous works of art by other memebers of the DT:

2 days & counting and today is preview day 2

Welcome back and today is preview day 2.  Did you like the look of Rosie - Spring Flowers and didnt the other DT members produce some stunning work?  Well today is the turn of Tuti Fruiti Bunny and again this stamp was a dream to use adn a great image to colour (using my copics!)  Todays project is a revision guide book for Ria for science, we bought some cards ready for her to make notes on and thought we would make a littel book to keep them in.  While I was in my lcs I found the papermania back to basics board books on offer so I picked one up for £1.99 and have used 2 pieces for the cover (I still have enough to make 2 more covers! so a definate bargain!  I think I may go back and get some more of these)  The papers are Shabby Princess from a freebie kit called Festival.  We decided that Tuti Fruiti Bunny was ideal for science as it made us think of  Isaac Newtons law of gravity!  Was going to use my BiA to make a book but this way Ria can add more cards if she needs to.  I inked all th edges for a bit more of a distressed feel but kept the cover flat so that it doesnt get ruined being pulled out of her bag.

Dont forget these wonderful stamps will be available in the Crafty Sentiments Store on Thursday morning.

Well you've seen what I have to offer for today so now go and check out these fabulous works of art by other memebers of the DT:

3 days & counting and today is preview day 1

Are you all excited and looking forward to launch day at Crafty Sentiments?  Well just wet you appetite we are previewing the new stamps over the next 3 days starting with this little cutie 'Rosie - Spring Flowers', she is a dream to colour in.

Now I was sat here trying to think what I could make for you today to show off Rosie when I noticed that my calendar didnt have a picture for May (or the rest of the year for that matter! lol) and I thought Rosie would fit the bill perfectly so her she is.  I have coloured her using my trusty copics and a touch of sakura.  I masked the image then did my background using inks and cotton wall balls and a cloud template.  I decide to leave the majority of the flowers white (suggested by DOH!) so they are like a basket overflowing with spring daisies and just added a couple of little pink ones.  I'm really pleased with how this turned out as I dont generally do much masking but will be in the future!

Well you've seen what I have to offer for today so now go and check out these fabulous works of art by other memebers of the DT:

5 days and counting! + mother and daughter crafting time

Only 5 days to go now til the launch of the new rubber from Crafty Sentiments, hope you are ticking of the days too!

Anyway this post is only just going to be finished in time for the challenge this week over at Sentimental Sundays which is For those special women in your life and there was an additional part to this challenge too which was to craft with a child.  So Ria and I took up the challenge but not until the last minute as I have been snowed under in work and she has been revising for 2 exams this week so after a brief (2hr) shopping trip this morning and then various other disruptions later in the day we finally got round to completing our project for the challenge which is a box for Rias Gran as her birthday is next month, I covered and reassembled the box (tea-bag box, Yorkshire Tea to be precise, the best!lol) and she chose and coloured the image and then we decorated the box and chose a suitable sentiment, it was great to work on a project together.  Papers are Dovecraft, Image is from TGF, flower, brad and gems rom my stash and the sentiment is a freebie from Sentimental Sundays.  We are both really pleased with how this turned out.

Ria would also like to enter this into the following challenge;

Crafty Sentiments ~ Flowers

This week over at Crafty Sentiments the challenge is 'Flowers' now we know how you all love your flowers so lets see them.  Dont forget to check out the amazing work by the rest of the DT ~ they will blow you away!  Anyway onto my card ... I have used the super cute manga couple Jason & Eve who were recently released and you can pick them up in the store.  They are actually one digi stamp but I chose to seperate them for my card and did so in PSE 5, I have coloured them with copics and added a touch of sakura stardust.  Cut them out using a Nellies frame which I then versamarked and coloured with mica pigment powders.  The background paper is a freebie from a magazine from a very long time ago and I'm afraid I dont know which brand but I loved the colours!  finished off with some prima flowers and brads from my stash and a sentiment from TGF which again was versamarked and mica pigmented.  So dont forget to check out the challenge blog and then come and join us.

Anyone For Anya ~ A Sketch

Great sketch this week over at Anyone for Anya? and it gave me the inspiration to use the last of my new stamps that I got from Silly Monkey Crafts, Ian from the Rock the Farm set, I have coloured him in using copics and  added some touches of sakura stardust.  The main backfground paper is from M&MBI paper stack and the other is from DCVW Natural stack, did some embossing with the scales texture plate by Fiskars and have used a selection of dies from Nesties, Go Create, Sizzix and a punch by Tonic Studios and also added some ink as the white cs looked way too white!  The sentiment is a Raindrop Echo Designs from Whimsy Stamps

Crafty Sentiments ~ Royal Wedding

To celebrate the Royal Wedding on Friday Crafty Sentiments is challenging you to make a wedding themed project this week and the DT have made some gorgeous samples for you to see.  For my card I have used a kinetic card blank and I have kept the decoration quite minimal.  I have inked the flowers using versamark and then dusted them with mica pigment powders, I got in quite a mess by the end of it I can assure you!  I also cut out a frame using Nellies Multi Frames which I also inked and dusted, I have left the area inside the frame blank until I have a wedding to celebrate and can personalise it.  My image is the beautiful wedding Amy and again I kept my colouring to a minimum, I really couldnt decide on a colour for her flowers and while I was umming and ahhing Ria took one look at it and said I would leave the flowers white they look really good ~ so I did and I think I have to agree with her and am pleased wtih the effect and was able to use a few little white flowers with a gold mesh bow as my finishing element.  I think I managed to acheive what I set out to acheive and quite like this despite the mess I got into trying to make it!  I hope you can join us for the challenge we have 2 sponsors this week so be sure to check out the Crafty Sentiments challenge blog for all the details.

a bookmark for Ria

After seeing my Amy bookmark the other day Ria really liked it and decided she would like one too, so I set about making her one.  Now I have used the corner of a blue envelope and heat embossed the background then matted the image onto some blue cs which is dry embossed.  The image is Easter Ian which is a freebie from TGF and I have used this image as it reminds Ria of one of her favourite characters from the Fruits Basket manga series of books and the character is called Momiji.  She is very pleased with the bookmark! (thank goodness for that! lol)

Little boxes

Well as Ria was making her bracelets she asked if I could makes some little boxes for them to go in so I used the same template that I used for my Easter treat bag the other day that I had made from a piece of 12x12 this time I used some 6x6 cs and made 2 little bags and added the name of each girl to the bag and tied them with some ribbon.  Ria is really pleased with them and I have to say they do look quite cute all tied up.

I would like to enter these little bags into the following challenges

Here she is modelling the pink one which is on 2 strands of elastic cord

the black and silver one has more movement to the beads and is on some silver chain.

Crafty Sentiments ~ Easter

Yes it Thursday which means Crafty Sentiments challenge day.  I'm having so much fun with all the images that are available at the store now, you really are spoilt for choice, something for everyone.  This week the challenge is 'Easter' so I have taken one of the Easter sentiment circles and enlarged it, removed the centre piece and instead have put 'Charles with his egg' in there coloured using copics.  The papers are a few of my last scraps of MME Bloom & Grow to which I have added some lace and then in the punched out corners I have added some buttons.

Crafty Sentiments are also sponsoring the challenge this week and the lucky winner will get 3 digi stamps from store.  So what are you waiting for check out the rest of the DT work and then join in with the challenge, we look forward to seeing your entries.

Anyone For Anya? ~ Circle card

This weeks challenge over at Anyone For Anya? is to make a circular card so I opted for an easel card and for the base of the card I used an old cd and covered it in some of my paper which is from a digi kit by Rapsberry Road Designs called Colour Your World and I added some Kraft paper to it.  This is another of my new stamps from the closing down sale at Silly Monkey Crafts and is from the Down on the Farm set.  I have coloured her with copics and a touch of sakura stardust.  I wanted to keep this card bright and cheery hence the bold colours and found that when I put it together there really didnt seem to be the need for extra embellishments as it all felt busy enough and I didnt want to overload it.  My circles and flowers shapes are a mixture of Nesties and Nellies dies (I love the fact that I can combine them)  The sentiment is also from TGF from the Spotlight Collection.

April Showers, pop up card

When I was at the show the other week I picked up a couple of templates for making some different cards and I have finally got round to trying one.  I went for a triple pop-up boxy card and I thought it was going to be really difficult but was surprised that I didnt find it too hard!  For my card I chose to use Flopsy in the rain from Crafty Sentiments, I coloured the image with copics then used diamond glaze on the top of the umbrella and dusted lightly with glamour dust, my grass infront is cut using a Marianne die.  I decided to make this card for the challenge over at Totally Gorjuss this week which is NO patterned paper so instead I used texture plates and embossing folders to add texture which I also inked and I made the cloud background following the tutorial over at Crafty Sentiments Tutorial blog.  The sentiment was done on the pc.  For my first attempt at a triple pop-up I'm pleased with how it turned out.

the second photo shows the raindrop texture a little better
