TGF Heart Journal ~ week 22 ~ Music of the heart

Gosh can you believe there is only one more week to go with the TGF heART Journal, what a journey it has been, one I have enjoyed and at times struggled with but now that it is nearing the end I think I will actually miss it!  Anyway this weeks theme was 'music of the heart' well I listen to a very wide range of music and it really depends on how I am feeling at any given time as to what I will listen to so I wanted a way of adding all the different artists and bands on and this is what I came up with.

I was making a christmas card and needed some music paper, remembered a very old magazine (1934) that I picked up in a charity shop for 20p after making the card I decided to use some of the paper as my background then I noticed the book title was 'Popular Music' so just had to use that and it was edited by someone called Jack Payne so I cut out the edited by JAC part! Made the popular music title into a pocket and added 2 tags that I have used to write the names of the artists/bands that I mainly listen to at the moment. I just knew that old magazine would come in handy one day! lol
As always thanks for stopping by on this incredible journey, only one more week to go :(

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 21 ~ I 'heart'

So this weeks prompt for the TGF journal was I 'heart' and  I decided not to go with how much I love my family etc as for me that is a given so instead I took a snap shot of some of the things I 'heart' at this moment in time and that is how my page was born this week.  I used a sentiments from Sentimental Sundays which I gave a glow in PSE5, then I cut several hearts using my Cricut out of some scraps of cs which I then wrote on and finally filled up the gaps with various peeloffs! Simple but fun to do and it will be interesting in years to come to see how my passions may have changed! lol

Thanks for joining us on our Journal journey, sadly it's nearly over :(

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 20 ~ I have a dream

Another page I struggled with this week, I really could not get anything to come together until I remembered some printed vellum I bought ages ago just because I liked it!  Didnt know what I was going to do with it but there you go! lol  Anyway I thought it might just work for me this week.  I cut various sentiments using the Cricut and then fixed them to the reverse side of the vellum for a more muted look, then attached my 'dream Big' to the front and got carried away with my wc pencils and colouring in the flowers on the vellum!  I must say that I am pleased with the end result.  Only 3 more weeks of the Journal to go now too.

The sentiments for this are Live well, Laugh often and Love but it was really hard to get decent pics.  As always thanks for joining us on our Journal Journey. xx

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 19 ~ Chaos

The theme this week for The Greeting Farm Heart Journal is 'Chaos' and this got me thinking about how quite often whats going on inside my head feels like and often is chaos that I have to make sense of so that is how my page came into being.  I have used a wonderful digi stamp from Charmed Cards and Crafts from their Let It Shine collection as this summed up my feelings in picture form and then I just jotted down some of the thoughts that swirls around in my head!  But I did have to add my antidotes too! lol.  Enjoy.
Once again thanks for joining us on our Journal journey. xx

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 17 ~ Soul Food

Ok the theme this week for the TGF HeArt Journal is 'Soul Food' and the story behind this one is that when visiting my mum and dad earlier this year we had popped into a cafe for a quick cuppa and there on the counter was this piece of Gypsy Tart, (this is a traditional Kentish dish) now I havent had Gypsy Tart in years and I mean years so the next thing we were on the phone to my aunt who is the Gypsy Tart queen asking nay begging for a Gypsy Tart while we were there and she was very good and sure enough made a divine Gypsy Tart.  Basically it is pastry case filled with evaporated milk and muscavado sugar whisked together and then baked in the oven til set, it is delicious but very difficult to describe the taste apart from very sweet sort of butterscothy, toffee yummy need I say more?! lol not good for someone trying to lose weight as I have put on a couple of lbs just thinking about it! lol  Then we went on to Ria's choice well hers is a Choco Cheatza which is a concoction we came up with one evening while we were having a girlie night in infront of the tv and it consists of a square wrap base covered in choc spread, sprinkled with marshmallows and then put under a hot grill til the marshmallows start to melt and brown - very yummy and great fun and yes we have made them again and again!  I also had a very crazy notion while I was devising the page that I would use canvas and colour it using coffee - yes I did say coffee! lol well I didnt have paint in the right colour and thought the canvas would soak up too much ink! just finished it off with a couple of stamped sentiments using espresso ink (of course!) Had great fun with this one.

Thanks for joining us on our journal journey xx

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 16 ~ heart 2 heart

For this weeks theme over at TGF for the heART Journal it is Heart 2 Heart so they want to see lots of hearts and maybe also have a little herat 2 weart with yourself!  Well I'm not a great one for lots of journalling I never really think I've got anything interesting to say!  Anyway I knew that I wanted to shape my page this week so I called on Ria's skills as my heart shapes were not looking heart shaped! then for my extra hearts I added some playing cards which got me thinking a bit more and led to the small amount of journalling that I have acheived which I did in white gel pen.  I am actually pleased with the way it turned out.

Once again thanks for joining us on our journal journey. xx

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 15 ~ Stickers

When I saw the theme for this weeks heArt journal I thought it might be fun to make my own stickers as I had just come across some white glossy sticker paper that Ria had several years ago which came with a pc program for making your own stickers.  Well I didnt bother trying to find the program but made my stickers using TGF image, sizzix dies and a Marianne Creatable die, I coloured all my stickers using copics which was strange as it is glossy paper so didnt colour in quite the same way as I'm used to! Finished off by adding a couple of sparkly butterflies and some (very old) rubbon texts.  It was a fun page to do.

I would like to enter this into the following challenge:
PaperTake Weekly ~ Anything Goes (+ bling ~ my butterflies)

Thanks for joining us on our journal journey, we hope you are enjoying the ride. xx

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 14 ~ Two Toned or Tonal

Gosh I cant believe its been so long since I actually posted!  Well there is a reason (couple actually!) firstly I have had dodgy internet and wireless goings on or not going on to be more precise and after lots of long phone calls we seem to have it sorted for the time being so keep your fingers crossed for me!  Secondly did you see the banner at the top of the page? NO! why not its pretty big!  Well FYI Crafty Sentiments Designs will be 2 on 30 October and to celebrate there will be a release of new stamps and we are having 5 days of previews from 26 - 30 October culminating in a Birthday Blog Hop on Sunday, we are all so excited and I have been busy making cards for the previews as I am going to be at work Tues-Fri so wanted to get uber organsied (especially for me!)  So that is why I havent been around.

Now talking of being uber organised I have even managed to complete my HeART Journal page with time to spare!  Actually I say I but this week Ria has been able to get involved too as she is on half term so not totally bogged down with homework!  The theme this week is Two Toned or Tonal and as soon as I saw the theme it was screaming SKA at me.  I love Ska music (amongst others) and when I was a bit younger was really into the music and was even a bit of a Mod (2nd time around I might add! lol)  Now I didnt really do the little skirts (never quite skinny enough) but did do ski pants and black cardigans which we all used to button up then stitch them so as not to come undone and wear them back to front so the 'V' and buttons went down the back.  Used to think it look uber cool! lol Anyway our journal page this week is a bit of an homage to the music of my youth.  Ria very patiently did the paper weaving and then trawled the internet for the selection of images.  Really like how this page turned out and how it revived old memories.

Well thanks for stopping by and joining us on our journal journey. xx

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 13 ~ Lucky Number

Well I struggled this week with the 'Lucky Number' theme for the heArt Journal, dont really think of lucky numbers as such so in the end I went for a snapshot of the numbers that are relevant at this particular moment in time.  The background paper is from a digi kit by SWEET Blossom Designs and its called 'numb3rs' then I have hand written the rest with the addition of a couple of stickers and the scrabble tiles.

Thanks for joining us on on our journal journey. xx
Now I'm off to buy some crickets for the dragons and back for more sorting!

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 12 ~ Watercolour Wonder

Gosh I was stuck this week when i saw the theme for TGF heART Journal, watercolours are not a medium I really delve into very much (a little with my wc pencils but thats about it! lol)  So took a while to work out what to do, I was thinking about trying to create a background wash going from grass up to sky and bits inbetween but while I was thinking about and looking out of my craftroom window I was inspired by the gardens and fields around with their autumnal colours and the trees so that was how the page was born!  I used some very old leaf stamps by Royal Langnickel stamped with clear embossing ink then heat embossed using silver pearl powder, the sentiment is a freebie from Sentimental Sundays and then I used some very old paints that I bought when I was starting out and they were the closest I could get to paints like twinkling H2Os! after painting I buffed up the embossed leaves with some cotton wool.  I'm actually pleased with how this turned out and this journal is certainly making us think a bit! lol

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 11 ~ Bloom & Grow

Another week of the TGF HeART Journal is coming to an end and this week the theme was Bloom & Grow and this made me think of the saying Mighty Oaks from little acorns grow and then I remembered having the acorn and oak leaf quickutz dies and that was the starting point for the page.  cut the leaves from different colours representing autumn, the journal block is a TGF stamp, the tree is an embossing folder to which I added some ink for definition and hey presto one journal page.

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 10 ~ Torn Between

Wow had to work quick this week for our heART Journalling page with TGF as I am going away later today and wont be back til Friday.  Ria and I had great fun tearing paper this week, Ria said she found it very therapeutic!  The past couple of weeks have been a busy, hectic and at times stressful period, both personally and at work so feeling blue kinda fitted so we used lots of blue bits from magazines and as crafting always helps we couldnt resist getting the Big Shot in on the action!

Thanks again for joining us on our journalling journey. xx

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 9 ~ Cut & Paste

Well the theme the heArt Journal for week 9 was Cut & Paste, and after some thought Ria and I decided to paste our heads onto some of our favourite TGF images.  This was fun especially as neither of us really like having our pics taken!  Hope you like it.

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 7 ~ Every cloud has a silver lining

Ok its time for this weeks TGF Heart Journal page and only just got this one done in time!  We struggled to think of how we were going to acheive this one as we have already used clouds on other pages and wanted something different.  The theme of clouds made me think of the poem by Wordsworth whose opening line is 'I wandered lonely as a cloud' and that is how the page was born.  W have used scraps of paper from my scrap drawers, the grass is cut using a Marianne Creatables Icicle die and the yellow flowers that  have been used to symbolise the daffodils of the poem are a Tonic Stuidos punch.  The clouds are cut using various dies (Cloud and cupcake topping!) and handcutting the large one all out of cotton wool pads and then adding the quote using silver peeloffs.  We are pleased with how this turned out and are now ready for the next theme which comes out tomorrow.

I would also like to enter this into the following challenges

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 6 ~ Text Me

Time for week 6 of the TGF Heart Journal and this weeks title is 'Text Me'  so Ria and I decided to cover our page in different uses of text, such as word search, stamps, lists etc so we collaged the page and then I added some handwritten journalling asking how we got from decorative and descriptive writing to txt spk? and asking if our children will be able to spell words with vowels in them!  lol!!  Well once the page was finished it just didnt look complete so I ran a red ink pad over it, not sure now if that was the right thing to do but its done! but then I suppose that is the purpose of the journal to try out new and different techniques.

I would like to enter this into the following challenge:

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 5 ~ Pieces of Me

Yep week 5 of the Heart Journal with TGF and this week Ria and I chose 2 of our all time favourite images and we paperpieced them then added various text in the way of stamping, peeloffs and stickers which says things about us as individuals but more about us as mother and daughter.  We are enjoying this joint project, I just hope Ria will still find the time once she is back at school next month.

The 'Top Chef' up in the corner isnt actually a compliment its referring to the fact that I usually end up burning the sausages! and Red Z and Sassy are our Mii characters!

TGF Heart Journal ~ week 4 ~ The Girl Inside

Ok its week 4 of TGF Heart Journal and the theme is the Girl Inside and part of the class was to include a handdrawn image of a girl!  Now I am not an artist by any stretch of the imagination and this nearly had me running in the oppositie direction until Ria sussed the best way to approach the page.  Now Ria is a very capable artist so we thought the best way was for Ria to draw an image on one side of the page and mine on the other side so this is what we came up with!  and I have to say that we are pleased with the way the page turned out and I even did some journalling on this one too! lol

this is the page as a whole

This is Ria's amazing drawing (it is based on the character Max from the series of books Maxium Ride)

And then there is mine! (lol)

Well here we are at week 2 of TGF Heart Journalling course and I have to say that after struggling with this at first, my page actually came together quickly and I feel happy with this one.  They sky is inked andthen torn papers for the sea and sand and I was actually looking for some beach themed stickers that I thought I had but instead I came across the word stickers and felt that they worked my better for the page.  No idea where they came from but I do know they have been in my stash forever!

TGF Heart Journal

Well this again is something new to me and I'm not even sure its really for me but I thought I'd give it a go anyway!  Ria was off on a school trip when I decided to join the 'classes' over at TGF but when I was telling her about it she really liked the idea so we have decided to work together on this over the next 23 weeks and put together a little journal of joint crafting!  I bought a Maya Road file (its only a small one) but decided on that so that I can add my pages and try using different papers as well as different art mediums (not that I have a lot in the way of paint! mainly inks!)  anyway the first prompt/theme to get us started was 'Spread Your Wings' now immediately this brought to mind one of my fave lyrics by John Denver 'I am the eagle, I live in high country, in rocky cathederals that reach to the sky' and thats how our page came about and the image that we added is from a manga book by James Patterson called Maximum Ride that Ria has which is about a group of kids who have had their DNA mixed with avian DNA and as a result they have wings and can fly, I have yet to read it btu we are huge JP fans.  The background has been acheived by tearing some cloud shapes (Ria) then I inked over them and when we took the shapes off I was able to add some of the lyrics inside them.  The green was added by dragging the corner of the inkpad down off the paper, we are really pleased with the end result, I could get to like this! lol  Looking forward to the next prompt now which is on Friday.

Thanks for stopping by. xx
