Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #182 ~ Add some texture

Hello, it's time for a new challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers and this fortnight Maike is hosting and the theme is Add Texture, now that can be wet or dry embossing, fabric, mixed media stuff, the options are huge, jut have fun with it.

For my card I have used a background paper from the Neroli pad which is fabric textured then I have added some red cs embossed with swiss dots, the image is an old one which is from The Greeting Farm which hasn't seen the light of day for a while! She is coloured with chameleons and SN pencils.  The speech bubble is embossed too as are the little leaves die cuts then finished of with 2 punched butterflies one from the backing paper and one from vellum these are then layered up and finished off with some blue gems.

Crafty Catz Challenge #357 ~ Anything Goes

Good morning, I hope you are all well, I have been dealing with a particularly irksome cold for over a week now and I just can't seem to shift it, hey ho that's the way it goes sometimes. Anyway you're not here to hear about my woes!  It's Friday so it's time for a new challenge over at Crafty Catz and the theme is Anything Goes with our fabulous Caz setting the DT twist of 3 designer papers.  We have a wonderful sponsor this week too

The DT were given some fab images to play along with.  I have used an image from our sponsor that I won a while back called SkyLynn. I have coloured her with chameleons and SN sparkles and then digitally paper pieced her kimono using a paper from Raspberry Road Designs kit called Asian Dreams.  I then used 2 more papers from the kit and digitally cut away some of the cream background then overlaid that paper over the the other paper and added some dropped shadow before printing out.  I matted the image onto some gold mirriboard then cut out a fan and birdcage from the mirriboard and finished off with a little die cut bird and peel off sentiment.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #181 ~ Love, Love, Love

Good morning well it's time for a new challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers and this time it is the turn of our fabulous leader Lin to set the theme and she has chosen the theme of 'Love, Love, Love' so lots of scope there.  

For my card I have used lots of die cuts done on the Cricut and I have gone with a WoW theme.  The card was for my parents who celebrated their Ruby anniversary a short time a go which is why I added the little red ribbon bow.  Layered the frame and heart using foam pads for some additional dimension.

A little inspiration

Over at Simply B Stamps the other day Betty very generously made available for a very limited time a fantastic image of Martin Luther King.  I couldn't resist then I started trawling the internet for some inspiration and came across lots of  black and white pictures and TV clips so I decided to make my project black and white.  This is a wall hanging and the background is an old newspaper print paper from Raspberry Road Designs to it I have added the image coloured with Chameleon pens and then inked around the edge, added 3 little black gems and them some black cs die cuts and I found an old fabric flower that I inked with some grey ink and attached the  flower to the hanging with a grey brad.

A little romance

The other day over at Faery Ink there was a special One Day Fae freebie of the delightful image called Doodlebug Valentine Lolliop, I couldn't resist!  So I have made this card with her and I have used my chameleon pens and had a go at colouring pleats, need a lot more practice but it was fun trying!  Paper is from a pad from The Range teamed up with red cs, die a little heart banner and the flower is a Sheena Douglass die 'Floral Burst' which came with the new edition of Crafters Inspiration.  The button is made with my epiphany punch (don't use it enough!) and finished off with a stamped sentiment.

Just for you

Just thought I'd share this card with you, I'm not totally sure about it! lol  I wanted to go with a WoW theme and was looking through my embossing folders and saw the one with all the keys on it so my mind went 'umm steampunk'  and that's how this grew!  rounded the corners of the base layer then cut the circle piece on the Cricut which was then embossed with gears.  The four diamonds were also cut on the Cricut then I stamped them with and old stamp finished off with an embossed sentiment.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #180 ~ New Beginnings

Today I can share some good news with you, I have been accepted as a new DT member over at Crafty Cardmakers  and this is our first challenge of the year and it's my turn to host and the theme of the challenge is:

New Beginnings.

Cowgirl

The beautiful cowgirl image I have used for my card today is from The East Wind and is called 'Cowgirl Portrait' and I had printed her off quite some time ago and I had coloured her face before I had the operation on my hand and just happened across her again so got busy with my chameleons and finished her off.  Used some great wood effect paper from Bearly Mine Designs which I teamed up with some Kraft cs.  The fringed ribbon I bought a little while ago and thought it would be perfect for this image then I had a good root around in some of my older stash, I was looking for some cowboy boots die cuts that I thought I had but apparently not anymore! lol Instead I found the metal label and the red star gems and I finished off with a red brad and peel off sentiment.

Warm Wishes

Bought the January New Release set over at The East Wind and just had to get making.  So here is my first card using the set and the image is called 'Lucy Loo Winter Birch Forest' I really wanted to keep this nice and simple and let the image speak for itself so I found a great background paper from Raspberry Road Designs, coloured Lucy Loo using my Chameleons (I think it takes me a bit longer to colour but I am enjoying the results oh and the time spent colouring! lol) I then cut a frame using the Cricut, stamped the sentiment then embossed the frame with some clouds which I inked slightly with some white ink.  Finished off with a little cloud outline die cut.

Simply B Progressive Challenge

Thought I'd share a card here that I made to take part in the Simply B Stamps Progressive Challenge over on the Simply B Stamps fan page on Facebook.  The fabulous image is called 'Coffee Emo' and the challenge accompanying the image was to use brown, beige, black and hot pink.  I have coloured her using Chameleon pens (a wonderful Christmas present) then I inked round the edge, can't remember whose the paper is I've had it for a long while, teamed it up with some black and pink cs, the sentiment comes with the image.  Used my Cropodile for the first time in a long time to put the eyelets in and make the holes for the little skull brads and finally finished off with a pink and a black gem and some funky black fibres.

Crafty Catz Challenge #352 ~ Anything Goes

Good morning and a Happy New Year to one and all.  I hope you all had a lovely festive break and are all set to enjoy the coming year.  I'm due back at work later this month (24th) so I am going to try and make the most of the time I have left with crafting and a bit of home decorating too.  So with out further waffle lets get down to business.  Today is the first challenge of the year over at Crafty Catz and the theme is 'Anything Goes' and it is the turn of our wonderful boss lady Carol to set the DT a twist and she very kindly gave us a nice easy one to start the year with 'add ribbon', don't forget you don't have to add the twist but we'd love it if you did join us.  Our fabulous sponsor this week is

So while I was wondering round looking for last minute gifts I saw this diary in Poundland and thought it was ideal for me to give it my personal touch.  It's A6 in size and now I wish I'd got a few more and done them as gifts! lol  

I started off with the sentiment stamp which is from a set called SteamPunk Dreams by Sam Poole from Creative Expression, the cogs, flying bugs and dressmakers form are also part of the set, the other stamps are from various different companies that I've bought over the years.  All stamped images have been heat embossed with, sea foam, antique gold, bronze or black embossing powders.

I then added various funky fibres, and bits of ribbon to the spine and finished off with a few little charms.  I don't think it will get mixed up with anyone elses diary! lol.  I love how it turned out.

Long Time No Play

Ok I seem to be struggling some what with my mojo. You'd think after not properly crafting for 2 months, following my thumb op, I'd be steaming ahead with ideas a plenty, but no such luck! lol  Anyway I really wanted to play along at The East Wind and the newsletter came for this month along with a cute Christmas kitty so I thought what better opportunity!  So I have spent a long time pushing bits of paper around my desk and moving die cuts here there and everywhere but it just wasn't happening and in the end I managed to make a simple little card but at least i managed something and I can play along with their challenge which is 'Meowy Christmas'  Hope I find my mojo soon!

Paper is from Raspberry Road Designs, cs is from my stash, image is coloured with copics, SN and Sparkles, added 3d glaze to the lights and glamour dust to the top of the stocking.  The embossed border is using a new folder that came with the Crafters Inspiration magazine issue 12.  Die cut holly leaves, gem berries and finished off with a peel off sentiment!

For my easel card I have used a fantastic Gus image and sentiment from Bugaboo Stamps, I do love a good Gus image and thought he would be perfect for a card for my OH who celebrated turning 50 on Sunday.  I have coloured the image using copics and SNs and some 3d gloss for his glasses, paper is First Edition Neroli and I have used scrap of cs for the matting, sentiment and balloon. The balloon is a die cut and the speech bubble is cut on the Cricut.  Kept it fairly simple as OH don't too fancy! lol
