My Crafty Sentiments Secret Release

Ok so by now I'm sure you've stopped by Crafty Sentiments Designs and seen all the fabulous stamps from the new release but I have to share with you this delightful image that I got in secret and I made a little gift bag to show her off.  In case you haven't checked out all the stamps we've been showcasing them over on the Crafty Sentiments Inspirational Blog so you really should pop over there and see all the incredible makes the DT have been putting together, not only are we showcasing the new stamps but we've also been using them to make other items rather than just cards, this shows you just how versatile these adorable stamps are.

So grab a cuppa as this post is a bit long as I decided to do a little tutorial to the gift bag I made, just be gentle with me, tutorials don't come to me easily! lol

This bag isn't my own design, a friend and I went to a craft show several years ago and she joined in on a Stampin’ Up make & take and made this cute little bag out of a piece of 6x6 cs she then gave the bag to me so that I could undo it and find out how to do it for myself, which I did then I decided to increase the measurements and make it out of a piece of 12x12 so here you go, a little gift bag with no cutting, only a little double sided tape and a few folds.  Hope you like it.

Measure in from 1 side 7cm and score from top to bottom, repeat this on the opposite side.

Rotate paper 90° and measure in 12.5cm and score from top to bottom and repeat on the opposite side.

Next score from where the lines meet to the edge of the paper diagonally to a point 7cms down the outside edge. This bit sounds confusing and I’m really not sure how to describe it but when it comes to folding the bag it should all make more sense (I hope!)

Next you need to start folding so fold in along the first 7cm scores you made.

Then fold along the 12.5 cm score lines

At this point you need to open the bag up again and fold along the diagonals so that as you fold the bag up the sides kind of fold in on themselves.  Sometimes I find it also helps to add a small score line centrally between the diagonals to help shape it. It looks la bit like a mouth! Lol

At this point you need to add your tape to the top and bottom of the 7 cm folds and attach.  Then fold your bag and decorate

I have used the adorable 'Skip Skip' from the fabulous new Lollipop Dreams range of stamps at Crafty Sentiments Deisgns, coloured with copics and I paper pieced her dress with a piece of PM Portobello Road paper from a 6x6 pack and I used the same design paper but in the 12x12 pack for the bag, love how it turned out, I tied my bag with some ribbon but kept the bow on the back of the bag so as not to detract from the gorgeous image. I also used some red wire for her skipping rope for a different dimension, the sentiment is an old freebie from Sentimental Sundays but I thought it fit the image so well.
And here's a close up of the image.

Ok so that's what I made and I had great fun making it.  I hope my tutorial is ok, any questions please feel free to ask.

Anything Goes

Good morning, I hope all is well with you where ever you are and whatever you are doing.  Today for me is a very busy one, I have 2 sheduled posts, my dd Ria turns 17 and I'm working a long day (07:30 - 22:00) and doing a sleep in so I wont get home till about 08:00 tomorrow morning and then Ria and I are off to Yeovil for a girly morning round the shops.  Thankfully I have the whole weekend off!  So onto this post.. well seeing as its Friday that must mean its time for a new challenge over at Crafty Catz and this week our fabulous teamie Janette has chosen everyones favourite 'Anything Goes' and we have an awesome sponsor too ...
prize...7 images of winners choice

Fabulous, don't you agree!  Right on with my card, the DT were very lucky and got the chance to play with some fantastic Bugaboo images so I chose Stella Belly Button, I just love this.  I decided that the fabulous image needed very little so went with a very C&S design using red mirriboard, black cs, red metallic brads and red & black check ribbon.  It was very difficult to get a decent pic due to the mirriboard!

Good morning, well as it's Wednesday that means its time for a new challenge over at Divas By Design and this week its C&S yep clean and simple, we have a great sponsor too in the shape of;
Picture

For my card I have used Little Turtle and I really did try and keep it very C&S and it was difficult, I don't always have lots on my cards but I definitely have more than this! lol But I must admit I like how it turned out.  I coloured the image with my copics and added some stardust to the stitching and the sentiment is pc generated.  I did some simple embossing round the edges and mounted it on to some matching cs and there you have it!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CRAFTY CATZ!

Good morning, well today is a wonderful day over at Crafty Catz, firstly because it's Crafty Catz's birthday 4 this week, and secondly it's our 200th challenge and to celebrate we have a nice easy challenge for you and 3, yes 3 sponsors so that means 3 yes 3 prizes, and  on top of that there is also a prize for the Top 3.  Told you it was a wonderful day!

Our 3 sponsors are:

£20 Voucher to spend at Chloe's

prize 3 digi images of choice

So as I said it's a nice easy challenge, your card/project this week MUST have a Happy Birthday sentiment on it, see easy!

Now when I got to thinking about my card, I thought it would be good to use the same image I used when way back in February I was GDT (and then I stayed on! and love every minute of it)  So my image was the adorable TGF stamp, nicknamed Abby in our house after Abby in NCIS.  This stamp has to be one of my all time favourites and she is coloured with copics and spectrums. This time I went for a monochromatic feel to my card added some lace and ribbon and a button and used a digi background paper from one of my favourite designers, Bearly Mine Designs, finished off with some purple cs that was embossed and used the same cs to stamp the sentiment.  So there you have it, a Happy Birthday card using some of my favourites and now it's over to you, we hope that you can join us in celebrating 4 wonderful years of Crafty Catz.

Anything But A Card

Good morning, here we are Tuesday morning so that means a new challenge over at Crafty Sentiments and this week the theme of 'Anything But A Card' has be chosen by Rachel, I really enjoy this type of challenge, certainly makes my grey matter work! lol  There is a fabulous prize this week and one I just know your gonna love, its this wonderful stamp from this months new release:

So this week I decided to do a bit more towards my Christmas projects as scarily the season will soon be upon us! Gulp!

I had this sturdy little Kraft box sat in my craft room waiting for me to play and I thought this challenge was just the perfect opportunity.  I used papers from Bearly Mine Designs on all the panels and added some white pom pom ribbon round the sides of the lid.  Then I coloured the 'O Tree' stamp (available at the Crafty Sentiments Design Store) using my spectrums cut it out leaving a small border and then mounted it on the top of the box.

Nice and simple but I do love how it turned out. And one final view of the cute image.

challenge 197 at Crafty Catz

Good morning, it's time for  a new challenge over at Crafty Catz and this week it was my turn to choose the theme.  Now when I think of challenges I like to see what was happening around the world around the date of the challenge and on 6 September 1852 in Manchester, England the FIRST British FREE library was opened!  Wow I had no idea free libraries had been around that long!  Charles Dickens spoke at the ceremony, as did poet William Makepeace Thackeray.  According to Dickens there were some 20,000 volumes in the stock, volumes that would open the minds of the curious, educate the working men who wanted to improve their lot, or just entertain those with no particular social agenda. In the words of Charles Dickens, it was free to all... "Knowing no sect, no party, no distinction; nothing but the public want and the general good."

Ok with the history lesson over, (lol) it's time for my chosen theme which is 'Bookmarks'  What better way to celebrate than with a good book which of course needs a good bookmark, and here is mine:
I have used an image from our sponsor who this week is

I found a giant paperclip and thought it would make a great starting point for my bookmark so I cut the image and sentiment out using plain circles then matted them onto scalloped circles using First Editions Family Ties then sandwiched the paperclip in the middle and hey presto my bookmark was completed.

Ribbon Pleating

Hello, I'm running somewhat late today, I blame it on work! and the fact that I did the late shift last night then a sleep in followed by the early shift today, so kinda got home sat in front of TV and didn't move again till now and thought I really had better post this!  especially as I have a long day, sleep in tomorrow followed by the early on Sunday! lol
Anyway it is still Friday which means a new challenge over at Crafty Catz and this week the wonderful Nick has chosen a theme of Ribbon Pleating and we have a wonderful sponsor this week...

So onto my card, well ribbon pleating isn't something I normally do so I was a little worried till I remembered some gorgeous ready pleated ribbon I had won sometime ago so that was my starting point for this card!  well we all need a starting point! lol  I loved the muted colour of the ribbon and thought it would work well with the Kraft then I thought those colours we great for the 'In the 20's' image from The Paper Shelter and then matched it all up with the fabulous patchwork paper from Bearly Mine Designs so finished off by embossing the Kraft, added some gems, gem strands and flowers from my stash.  So after being worried I ended up with a card I'm really pleased with. Do pop by and check out what pleated ribbon treats the other awesome members of the DT came up with, they really rocked this challenge, loads of fab inspiration for you.
