Crafty Catz Challenge #313 ~ For a Special Lady

Good morning just a very quick post as I'm off to catch a train in about half an hour, going to spend a few days with my Mum & Dad! It's time for a new challenge over at Crafty Catz and this week it is the turn of our wonderful leader Carol to choose the theme and she has chosen 'For A Special Lady' and we are sponsored by
Winners Prizes: - We will donate a £8/$15USD digi voucher to your readers maximum per challenge. Prize cannot be exchanged for cash and no overages are allowed on the voucher value.

I decided to put the Cricut to work and have made a little gift box using a pre coloured image from out generous sponsor. (was a bit pushed for time so these pre coloured images are fantastic for times like that!)  Added die cut and punched flowers and gems to flower centres. So what Special Lady doesn't like cookies!

Right now it's time to zip up the case (anything not in there, tough! lol) very quick coffee and out the door.

New Shoes!

Thought I'd pop on here and show you the card I've made from my Aunt who turns 60 or 15 depending on how you look at it!  Her birthday is on February 29th! lol  Anyway she's having a party in Kent and I'm on holiday at the time so I actually get the chance to go and am going to meet up with Ria at Waterloo and we are going to spend the weekend at my Mum & Dads so its win win all the way!  Now something you need to know about my Aunt is she is well known for her shoes, especially her high heels so this shoe die was just the perfect thing.  Cut it in gold and teamed it up with green cs and some more gold cuts, the corners were cut on the Cricut as was the 60. Hope she likes it.

If the shoe fits ...

Well it's the last day of my holiday today, back to work tomorrow on a 10-10 shift with a sleep in! Ha ha back with a vengence! So I thought I might as well have a little play here in the craft room.  It started with the shoe and went on from there.  Papers are from First Editions and are New Bloom with some off cuts of cs including whitewash and glitter, some have been embossed.  Various circle dies used, the shoe die was a recent magazine freebie, the flower stem die is also a recent buy and the sentiment is cut on the Cricut.

Is it just me ...

... or does everyone else get covered in glue doing decopatch?! After my mixed media project the other day I thought I'd do some more decopatch on a corner bookmark. Now I'm afraid I always cheat on these bookmarks and use a square envelope as my starting point instead of doing some fancy folding and to be fair the envelopes haven't let me down yet! lol. So after sticking down my envelope and then cutting a corner off I coated it with decopatch glue and torn pages from an old book, after tearing up the pages I also inked them (I really did get messy! lol) then stuck them to the back and the front of the envelope corner which has really given the bookmark added strength. While that was drying, I cut the frame and wording out on the Cricut using my new cartridge 'small talk frames and tags', brilliant cartridge, very versatile. made a back panel which I also decopatched then I coloured the fabulous image from TEW called 'Lucy Loo Mad Hatter' with a mix of my markers then attached her to the frame and added the back panel and finally added this to the envelope. This has be done to enter the Facebook challenge over at TEW where the theme is 'Not Now ... I'm Reading'

1st attempt at mixed media!

Just wanted to share with you a project I've been working on which is my first attempt at doing some mixed media.  Been wanting to dabble but not really plucked up the courage till now!  So I took a piece of mountboard 12"x8" and covered it in deco mache paper, once dried I added some stars by stencilling through some metallic off cut with blue ink, then I a brown ink pad and went round the edges, put a top layer of decopatch glue on and left it to dry while I coloured the fabulous KennyK image, which is a limited freebie but you need to join the Facebook Club.  She is coloured with a mix of my marker pens and pencils, then I used my new Spectrum Sparkle pens, oh wow they are gorgeous, I had up until now been using Sakura Stardust pens but mine are old and drying up and not so reliable any more and I loved the fact that these have brush nibs, I am certainly not disappointed!  Unfortunately the sparkle doesn't show in the photo but I love their subtle addition to the image.  Anyway enough raving! I added a piece of mesh then cut out the flowers from some Kraft cs and beautiful papers sent to me by a friend in Poland which I have been saving to use for the right project and as this is for me I thought I deserved them! lol.  Once I'd made the flowers I then coated them with the decopatch glue and fixed them in place with some hot melt glue.  I used glossy accents for the flower centre and added some micro beads.  The sign is made from some s/a cork sheets I bought recently and the 'Jacs Playground' is cut on the Cricut from s/a white paper.  For my first attempt I am pleased with how this turned out, might just have to buy myself some acrylic paints and put my Cricut to good use making some stencils.  This was a lot of fun, a bit messy, but a lot of fun! Now I just need to decide if it is going to hang on the door to the craft room or the craft room wall!

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
Aloha Friday #64 ~ Favourite colour combo~ blue and brown
