Ribbon Pleating

Hello, I'm running somewhat late today, I blame it on work! and the fact that I did the late shift last night then a sleep in followed by the early shift today, so kinda got home sat in front of TV and didn't move again till now and thought I really had better post this!  especially as I have a long day, sleep in tomorrow followed by the early on Sunday! lol
Anyway it is still Friday which means a new challenge over at Crafty Catz and this week the wonderful Nick has chosen a theme of Ribbon Pleating and we have a wonderful sponsor this week...

So onto my card, well ribbon pleating isn't something I normally do so I was a little worried till I remembered some gorgeous ready pleated ribbon I had won sometime ago so that was my starting point for this card!  well we all need a starting point! lol  I loved the muted colour of the ribbon and thought it would work well with the Kraft then I thought those colours we great for the 'In the 20's' image from The Paper Shelter and then matched it all up with the fabulous patchwork paper from Bearly Mine Designs so finished off by embossing the Kraft, added some gems, gem strands and flowers from my stash.  So after being worried I ended up with a card I'm really pleased with. Do pop by and check out what pleated ribbon treats the other awesome members of the DT came up with, they really rocked this challenge, loads of fab inspiration for you.

Oriental Delight

Good morning, this morning I am sharing with you my secret make which is part of the new release stamps at Crafty Sentiments Designs this month.  For my make I went with something a little different for me and I also teamed up with my daughter Ria, so a joint effort this time!

Now grab yourself a cuppa as this is quite a picture heavy post, ok are you ready?  Then I'll begin!

First off all when I got my secret image I knew exactly wanted I wanted to do with her as I had an old pair of trousers with embroidery on them that I thought would match her beautifully, so without further ado the trousers were attacked very neatly by Ria with a rotary cutter!

Then Ria made a seam across the bottom of the trouser leg to create the bottom of the bag and a double hem around the top.

Next the image was stamped onto some transfer paper that I picked up in Lidls a while ago just because it seemed like a good idea at the time and the price was good! Lol The one thing I did discover was that it was better to colour with copics as the brush is much softer than the nib of spectrums as they tended to take the surface of the transfer paper off.   Yes I did do some trial runs! Lol (forget to take a pic of the coloured image before transferring it!)

So with the bag ready for the transfer it was time to iron and add the handle.

And just to finish off here’s a close up of the gorgeous Geisha Girl image coloured and transferred, don’t forget though that the transferred image is a mirror of the original stamped image.

Thanks for stopping by, we hope you like our little bag xx

Hello, well what a week I have had this week, work has been extremely hectic and this has resulted in very little time being allocated to crafting so this little card has literally taken me all week!  Not the way I like to craft but at least I have finally got it finished!  Am so glad I was up to date with my DT commitments!  Anyway my card for today is using a fab new digi from Crafty Sentiments Designs and he is called Henry and is Harriet's new friend.  He is a cutie.

I have coloured him with a mix of copics and spectrums and teamed him up with some fab papers from Barely Mine Designs.  The border is a die from Crafty Sentimens Designs and I have used some of the paper to 'build a brad' finishing off with a peeloff sentiment raised up on foam pads and a butterfly from a set I got recently while staying with my mum.

Crafty Catz are back!

Good morning all, well it's Friday and the news for today is that Crafty Catz are back after our 2 week summer break and we are all refreshed and ready to go with a brand new challenge and the theme this week has been chosen by the wonderful Christine and she wants to see 'Stitching, real or faux plus the option of adding some material to your project too'  So... take up the challenge with the option and you will be entered into both prize draws for both sponsors....But please remember to state what if any material has been used. If you choose to leave out the option of material  and just cover the stitching  you will be entered into the  prize from our second sponsor.  Which brings us nicely on to our fabulous sponsors for this week and they are:
5 digital stamps

and

AUGUST prize

Wow 2 fabulous prizes!  So onto my project for this week.  As Ria will shortly be returning to school to study for her A levels we have made a joint project in the form of a study notes book.  Ria coloured the fabulous 'Col Macallan' from Kenny K then we used 2 pages from a papermania board book as a cover, kept them 'naked' stamped some cogs on, added some faux stitching round the edges, matted the 'Col' on to some foiled paper from DCWV and finished off with some leather cogs.  The leather is actually from an old furniture sample book and is cut using TH Gadget Gears and the Big Shot.  We both LOVE how this turned out and I shall certainly be looking through my materials scraps again, it's not something I think to use on my cards very often

Lets see your twine

Back again, this time I'm here to tell you about the new challenge this week over at Divas By Design and this week the theme is 'Let's see your twine' and we have a super sponsor, one of my faourites ...

and the DT got to play with some of their fantastic images, for my card I chose Parking and the matching sentiment.  I also knew straight away that I wanted to use my Portobello Road papers so the image was coloured with Spectrum Noirs and I added LOTS of 3d glaze, it's on the car windscreen, her glasses, keys, bangles, handbag and shoes!  Kept the colours bold so as not to get lost in these fabulous papers.  I added faux stitching around the image and sentiment.  Flowers are using the papers and some red cs then punched and layered and gems added.  The little key charms and cs tag are joined with my twine.  Have to say I love how this turned out, all that glaze is such fun!

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Lift the person before you

While I was checking around blogland (like you do) I came across an interesting challenge over at Cleary iStamp.  The challenge goes like this ... 'What you do is leave a comment in the comment section stating you will play and your blog address. Then you look at the person who left a comment right before you and that is who you will lift.  You will go to their blog and find a project that you want to "lift". "Lift" means you take something from the project (colors, theme, image, layout, element, etc) and base your card on that.  (In your post if you can state who you lifted and what project...and if you can post their project on your blog that would be awesome! Like I did below.)'

So here goes ...

I lifted this card from nancyparker55 at Colouring Within the lines (she has some fabulous projects!)

And here is my card, I used some Papermania Christmas stamps (old ones) and black and white cs.  I embossed the sentiments and corners then added more white ink with some cottonwool for that wiped over blackboard effect and finished off with some white organza ribbon.  Felt really strange getting my black card smudgy, usually try so very hard not to get marks and smudges on it!  Love the blackboard effect so thanks Nancy for the nudge in the right direction.

Cherry on the top!

Decided to have another play with a Pure Innocence image and also my Spectrum Noirs as whilst on holiday I added to my collection (oops now have the complete set!)  I do find they blend differently to copics and they seem to bleed a little more too but I'm having fun playing and as I don't go back to work till Sunday afternoon that means that I get another day of playing tomorrow! lol  After colouring I fussy cut then mounted her onto a piece of First Editions Family Ties pad and also used another piece for the main background.  Added some green cs for the sentiment and embossed a piece for the side.  The swirl across the card is a new die cut too (x-cut) and finished off with some little prima flowers from my stash.
