Happy Birthday Dad

As you read this I am possibly somewhere between Dorset & Kent.  Ria and I are spending the weekend with my mum and dad.  Next week my dad turns 65 and to celebrate we are going out to lunch on Sunday to a very nice Italian restaurant in London with the Italian side of the family so we are really looking forward to this, anyway thought I would share the card I made for my dad.

I decided to try a shadow box card (but changed the sizes slightly) have used the glorious Portobello Road papers by Papermania (just love these papers) and kept the card fairly simple (just like dad! no only joking dad you know we love you really! lol)  Used a nestie for the aperture and a fab little owl that I won recently from Pink Gem Designs.  The owls crown is quite sparkly irl and is coloured using sakura stardust pens and I used 3d crystal lacquer for the eyes, the numbers were cut using the cricut.  Pleased with how this turned out for my first shadow box card, will definitely make some more.

More Hunger Games

Today I have made a simple bookmark using the wonderful Katniss from the Hunger Games which is available at the Mad For Markers Store.  When I say simple all I did was print the image onto a long narrow scrap of card I had, coloured her in with my copics and then folded the card at the head end, cut around leaving a small border and being sure not to cut completely across the fold! Then I added a couple of strips of s/a magnet and hey presto 1 bookmark.  So Katniss is now poking her head out of Ria's latest book

Copics used are R00, 11, B93, 95, 97, YG63, G94, E33, 35, W3, 5, 7, and YR31

Sweet Treat

I am just lovin' these new stamps from Crafty Sentiments Designs, this time I have used 'Sweet Treat' and she is wonderful to colour.  I have used copics (of course! lol)  My papers are from Bearly Mine Designs Petunia Parade (still lovin' these too! lol) and I actually put them together digitally in PSE5 and added the pink rikrak before printing it off. (it started as an experiment to see how the 2 papers looked put together and it suddenly hit me to print them like it rather than print individually then cut and stick together! Duh! lol   I added a peeloff sentiment (see to have loads!) and then added flowers and silver clover from my stash to finish it off.

Molly Fairy

I was lucky enough to win some Stamp Fairy images recently and this adorable image of Molly Fairy is one of the images I chose.  I have paper pieced her dress and coloured her with copics adding glitter to the inner section of her wings.  My papers are Bearly Mine Designs Petunia Parade (am just loving these!)  For the sentiment I used a digi stamp from Crafty Sentiments Designs and in Photoshop Elements I changed the wording to suit my card the printed it out and the little flourishes at the bottom are cut on the Cricut.

Mad For Markers Vintage Dragon

Now this dragon image from the Fairy Ria and Friends collection available from the Mad For Markers Online Store I just adore but I wanted to make a vintage style card and really couldn't figure out what colours to go for so headed to my papers first and on choosing these wonderful papers from Echo Park Times & Seasons pad I realised that I didn't need to add much in the way of colour to the dragon so just used copic W1 for some shading (which still needs practice LOL) then I inked the edges, the ribbon is from my stash but I actually turned it over as the other side is very shiny and I thought too shiny for this style of card. I also used a tiny bit of the ribbon to make my tag.  Finished off with some nesties cog shapes and I think I have ended up with a vintage steampunk card

Feeling a little patriotic

Love these Portobello Road papers by Papermania and just the other day I bought a new KennyK stamp (not one of the newest ones but still new! thats 3 I've got now must be careful it doesn't start to become an obsession!) Anyway this one is quite aptly Queens Cutie, I've coloured her with copics and she is sat one the circles raised up on foam pads for a bit more dimension.  The sentiment is also from the Portobello Road range.    I had hoped to have her finished in time for this weeks challenge over at Keeny K's Krafty Girlz but alas I had to go to work so have finished her now that I am home again.

C&S Birthday card

It takes me ages to put a card together!  I decide on what image I want to use then think about colours so go through my papers (no mean feat as I'm sure you will agree! lol) once I've chosen then I need to sort the colours of my copics to tie in and what design the card is going to take.  Once I've decided on all that it tends to come together reasonably quickly just have to work out the embellishments!  Now you may wonder why I have rambled on a bit here but this card which uses the fantastic Birthday Girl 1 digi stamp from Mad For Markers, looks very simple but it actually took me hours!  I kept swapping papers around then umming and ahhing over design, need I go on but the finished card looks so clean and simple and looks like it could have been made in minutes!  Am I really the only one this happens too?  Anyway I have used copics E00, 11, 47,49 & 57 V000, 12, 15 & 17 YG03 &23  then added a little touch of sakura stardust, my papers are First Editions Daydream pad and then added 2 different ribbons and a little charm from my stash and a stamped sentiment.

Ok over at the Crafty Sentiments Challenge blog the theme this week for the challenge is spots &/or stripes and I managed a bit of both.  My image is the gorgeous Butterflies & Flowers available at the Crafty Sentiments Design Store, coloured with copics.  My inspiration came from the piece of ribbon that was wrapped round a birthday cake! Background paper is MME On The Bright Side, used xcut border punches and finished off with some flowers, leaves and a gem from my stash.  I hope you like it  and I hope you will join in with the fun challenge.
