Crafty Catz Challenge #268 ~ Use your punches & dies

Good evening, my apologies for posting so late, I had intended to shedule this yesterday when I got back from work but things didn't go as planned.  I started the day with a miserable drive to Dorchester in fog and rain for a training session but was unable to take part in the training as my thumb isn't quite back to full fitness!  Got back to the car in the rain, having paid £4 to park all day and only being there half an hour, noticed back tyre needed some air so there I am in the car park in the rain with the compressor but no air going in, so feeling very damp and fed up off I went to the nearest garage and 50p later inflated tyre, checked the rest while I was at it too, well had to get my 50ps worth!  Feeling even more fed up I decided to take an unexpected trip to the Range for some well deserved retail therapy!  So a few crafting goodies later I drive home in the fog and rain and when I get back work has phoned so I return the call only to find they need me to go into work, so much for my idea of taking it as a holiday day!  Towards the end of my shift one of our tenants becomes quite ill, so much so that I ended up getting the paramedics out.  All is good now but by the time everything was done I left work at 12.30 this morning instead of 9.30 last night! lol

And the DT were given some fabulous images from our very generous sponsor to play with.  I chose a wonderful Stella image called Stella Identity Theft and it has a sentiment to match, half of which is on the front of my card and the other half inside it.  I've kept it flat to go in the post and matted everything on black cs.  The papers are from Bearly Mine Designs, I wanted the look of a whitewashed wall for the background and then went with the typed piece as it made me think of old police reports, Stella is coloured with Spectrums and on the inside I matted the rest of the sentiment on black cs and then a piece of the typed paper.   I think this will appeal to my Mums sense of humour (and it won't be long before it arrives mum! lol)

Pretty In Pink

I just thought I'd share with you a card I made back when I had no phone or internet.  It was made to be a part of a challenge over at Crafty Catz but we didn't get the internet back in time so I thought I'd share it here now!

I have used a wonderful Rick St Dennis image and coloured her with copics and spectrum pens & pencils.  The papers are Family Ties from First Editions, the butterflies are a JS die, the floral corner is a magazine freebie die (can see that getting lot of use) and a flower punch finished off with a stamped sentiment and some liquid pearls for the flower centres.

Using some freebies

I had some freebies off a magazine recently but have only just got round to using them.  I wanted to acheive a warm indian summer type of feel to this card to match the stamps and embossing folder. I used an orangey cs and stamped in versamark round the edge of the bottom piece then heat embossed with clear and then rubbed an caramel ink round the edge.  Inked round the edge of the dry embossed panel too before matting that onto some darker orange cs then finished off with a sentiment stamped in caramel ink and used the cricut to cut out the sentiment and matching mat. A bit different for me but I do like it.

Happy Valentines Day

Good afternoon, well I thought I'd share with you a card I made for Ria to give to her boyfriend today.  Now neither of them are really into the hearts and flowers type of things, although that's not to say he isn't romantic because he is and he is very thoughtful, so when I remembered I had this wonderful image from Saturated Canary it seemed the perfect choice, so I set to and Ria was very pleased with the end result.  So here we have a valentines card with a bit of a difference!

The papers are all scraps of the Natural Stack from DCWV, sentiment was generated on the pc and edged with copper embossing powder.  The image is coloured with copics and spectrum pens and pencils.

Ok so now its down to business, I used a wonderful image called Dudley balloons and it is an old image from Pollycraft Designs which I have had for quite sometime but this is actually the first time I have used him!  I don't know why as he really is a cutie! lol.  So he is coloured with copics and spectrum pens and pencils, the papers are from DCWV glitter stack and are all scraps, even the piece of green cs in the background is an off cut, the balloons are a Quikcuts die and I used some metal photo tabs and brads which I have had forever!  Finished off with a peeloff sentiment.

U Rock!

Trying to squeeze in some more crafting before having to go to work tomorrow and thought I'd use the fab freebie from KennyK that was available in December, the wonder Dixie Daisy.  I have coloured her with a mix of copics and spectrums with a touch of dark red stardust in her hair which doesn't really show up in the pic!  Matted her and the sentiment which is from Crafty Sentiments on some scraps of holographic mirriboard, the background glittery circles paper is from DCWV Glitter Stack (almost down to scraps with that pad too) Added some ribbon, a bow and flowers, which were also cut from some scraps and I added liquid pearls to the centres.  Right off to see if I can fit some more cards in tonight!

Crafty Catz challenge #262 ~ New beginnings

Happy Friday everyone, it's the start to the weekend Yay!  Sadly for me though this means I am back to work on Monday having recuperated after my operation so less time to spend in my craft room but I shall just have to make the most of the time I do get in here! lol  Anyway as it's Friday that means a new challenge over at Crafty Catz and this week the wonderful Carol has picked our theme and it's new beginnings, so new baby, new home, you get the idea lol we have a fabulous sponsor for you this week in the shape of ...

CRAFTY RIBBONS

For my card I went with a New Job theme and I have used 2 digi stamps from the Greeting Farm and joined them together to make one, the background paper is from Raspberry Road Designs and as it had a creamy base to it I printed the image (mixture of dressy Edward and dressy Ebony) onto some cream paper I had and had to colour carefully as there was a certain amount of bleeding going on!  I coloured with copics and spectrum pens & pencils, the hair didn't blend as well as I would have liked but the suit got some nice texture to to it.  The sentiment was cut on the Cricut and the stars are all from the one starburst die by JS and I finished off with a little black liquid pearl on the flower on her hairband.

Warm Winter Wishes

OOh I was very lucky to win the Button Up challenge over at The East Wind and I got to choose 3 images as my prize, it took me ages to choose which 3 and once I had them I couldn't wait to have a play.  For this card I have used Aurora Reindeer, I saw lots of beautiful cards using this image in the run up to Christmas so I have used her here just as a winter greeting, so it's suitable for a winter birthday or just to say hello.  I have coloured her using copics and spectrum pens & pencils and I added glamour dust to her coat and hat.  I have embossed the background cs with snowflakes then rubbed over with espresso ink on a cotton ball, the edges of the image and pc generated sentiment have also been inked and I finished off with some green liquid pearls.

Hola little Pablo

And that is the limit of my spanish! lol  I recently won a challenge over at Brown Sugar and the prize was 3 images from Lacy Sunshine and when I saw sweet little Pablo I couldn't resist and just had to get on and make a card with him.  I chose to go WoW and as a result wanted to keep Pablo quite pastel in colour, he is coloured with copics and spectrums.  The background, branches and flower are all cut on the Cricut (the branches and flower using my new cartridge picturesque) I embossed and banner shaped piece with stars and then used a label die from Crafty Sentiments Designs to cut the computer generated sentiment to which I added a couple of flat backed pearls.  The flower has been put together with a brad and foam pads for a little more dimension.  And there you have it!

Getting Girly over at Crafty Sentiments

Good morning all, did you see Suzette on C&C the other day?  She was great and those new stamps are gorgeous.  Well it's Tuesday so it's time for a brand new challenge over at Crafty Sentiments and this week is my last card as a DT member as after over 4 years I have come to the decision to step down.

The theme this week is 'Girly' and I have used the adorable Lets Celebrate.  The papers are from Bearly Mine Designs (sadly no longer trading)  I coloured the image using copics and spectrum pens & pencils, I used the feathering technique for colouring her dress then cut her out using a teardrop die and cut another bigger one from printed vellum to mat her onto.   I have added some white feathers, clear gem strands, die cut flower, stamped sentiment and lots of pastel blue liquid pearls.

Skating by ..

Been having a quiet play in the craft room tonight, making the most of it as I'm due back to work on the 19th so got to fit in as much as I can, kinda got used to not being at work having had all this time off due to my thumb op and thought I'd share the card I made.  I used this cutie from The Paper Shelter and coloured her using spectrum pens & pencils, papers are First Editions Neroli, the arch she is mounted on was cut on the Cricut as were the corners, added some lace, gems, stamped sentiment and finished off with some pastel blue liquid pearls.

The DT were given some wonderful designs to inspire you with.  I chose to use the sentiment and make it the focal point of my card, not something I do very often but I am pleased with how this turned out. The papers are First Edition Blank Canvas and the plain blue pieces I embossed with a raindrop fiskars embossing plate.  I distressed the edges and then cut a cloud using a Quikcutz die and gently inked the edges then added some pastel pink beads using invisible thread and raised the cloud on foam pads. A nice and simple card (like me then!) but I like it, hope you can join us this week.

Having a Cuppa

Been having a play with an image I bought from The East Wind recently, she is called 'Lucy Loo Morning Coffee' I have coloured her with copics and Spectrum pens & pencils, she was great fun to colour.  I've used Kraft cs and papers from Bearly Mine Designs, the label die is from Crafty Sentiments Designs to which I have added a couple of little skull brads then finished off with die cut flowers and little wooden buttons.  The sentiment is a stamp from TGF.  This is a card for a friend of Ria's who is about to turn 17, she has long blond hair and loves animals so I thought this would suit her just fine. lol
